Video games have come a long way. They used to be nothing more than a recreational activity to kill some time or being only a place to hang out with with your friends at the local arcade after class or on the weekends. Video games back in the day were very black and white. The biggest dilemma we were faced with was “You have to save the princess!” or “The world is counting on you to destroy the evil Dr. Bad from blowing up the world!” but not much information beyond that was given. What we were faced with was very straightforward. That’s the bad guy, this is the good guy, kill all the bad guys, save the girl. There was hardly any emotional investment [...]

Just last night the official reveal trailer for Call of Duty Black Ops 2 hit the airwaves. (Check out Charles’ article from last night here) It seems that retailers don’t want to waste any time. They’re showing their pre-order bonuses already.
The pre-order for GameStop is none like I’ve ever seen before. They’ve announced what looks to be a piece of the pre-order action, the rest will be announced in what they’re calling “waves” and there will be four total. The first wave has been revealed already and is an exclusive double sided poster of Black Ops 2. As a bonus, if you’re a PowerUp Rewards member you’ll also [...]
Rev up your motors and get ready for Gamepires pre-order season with the official announcement of its debut title’s release, Gas Guzzlers: Combat Carnage.

There’s two goals that can be completed during this epic weekend of carnage. There’s the allied goal and the squad [...]
Amazon has done it again. On the Amazon France site they’re currently showing a Resistance: The Trilogy up with a May 16th release date. From the title one can only assume that Resistance: The Trilogy will contain all three PlayStation 3 Resistance titles.
Also, if you look through the images below the game, it shows a few screen caps from what looks to be all three console titles. Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance 2, and Resistance 3. Of course Insomniac or Sony themselves haven’t officially announced this yet so we’ll have to wait and see what they say. With a May 16th release date however, they’re going to say something about it [...]
Zach Wood, Senior Producer of PlayStation’s Twisted Metal series, has revealed that Axel is now available to every player of the demolition derby-based game with today’s free patch.
The two-wheeled bringer of destruction was formerly a pre-order bonus back on Valentine’s Day. Now all fans can roll out a new approach to damage with Axel’s unique methods of attack. Guilty bystanders can be kept at a distance with his signature Crowd Control, or utilize his aptly named alternate special attack, War Wheel, on unsuspecting enemies.
Gameplay for not only the bi-treaded terrorizer, but other vehicles from the game, is available in the Twisted Metal University [...]
Square Enix London Studios, a part of Square Enix Europe, announced today that legendary Mixed Martial Artist, Georges St. Pierre (known to the MMA world as GSP) is collaborating with Square Enix and United Front Games on an open world cop drama titled Sleeping Dogs.
St. Pierre has helped contribute to the development on the project with various elements including combat within the game.
Working with Square Enix has been an incredible opportunity. I’m really impressed to see how the hand-to-hand combat in the game is shaping up – it’s been a great experience being involved.
GSP has been contributing to Sleeping Dogs on an ongoing basis. He’s [...]

According to Inside Mobile Apps, Angry Birds Space is officially the No. 1 paid and No. 1 top-grossing app for the iPhone and iPad in nearly 30 countries, including US, China, Germany, France, India and the UK.
The latest version of Rovio’s ever-consuming iOS and Android game, in which towers of pilfering green pigs are toppled by vengeful fowl, has outdone the similarly addictive Draw Something by OMGPOP and Apple’s picture editing and sharing app, iPhoto.
This information seems to be contradicted by the Top Paid Apps overview by Apple itself, which lists Angry Birds Space as secondary to the omnipresent Draw Something. As far as the Top Grossing Apps radar reports, [...]

The tale’s protagonist is Merida, [...]

Joining a long list of games that UK retailer GAME will not be stocking are Ninja Gaiden 3 and Warriors Orochi 3. If you’ve already preordered through them you can get a full refund and then have to find the game elsewhere.
In case you’ve forgotten, this seems to be happening to a lot of games that GAME was supposed to be selling. From Mass Effect 3 to Street Fighter X Tekken, you won’t be finding them at GAME. Not to mention that GAME is trying to sell itself.
I personally think that GAME’s recent troubles come from naming itself after the product it sells. That just makes everything confusing. Jerks.
GDC was last week, here in San Francisco, and it was pretty awesome. Lots of clever people, interesting projects, and great discussion. I want to go over one of these interesting projects. I’m sure many of you have, at this point, heard about Johann Sebastian Joust. In case you haven’t, let’s go over the rules:All players have a PlayStation Move controller. If a player moves their controller too quickly, they’re out. “Too Quickly” is dictated by the tempo of the music. The faster it is played, the faster people can move, giving them opportunities to be aggressive, or saving a seemingly doomed player. The goal is to knock out other players, while defending yourself, and be the [...]
Square Enix recently released a free update for it’s interactive, full-color comic, Imaginary Range. Imaginary Range is a comic developed by Square Enix that includes mini-games that have been inserted throughout the comic, and advances the story in a unique new way.
The update has included two new mini-games, Chocobo Racer and Sphere Bounce. Also included with the update is Omega Burst, a revamp of the popular Chapter 1 mini-game, Omega Blast. Updates other than mini-games include social network integration.
