Review
Without question, best in the series.
Now I could honestly stop right there and I feel it would be saying enough, but as this is a review, I will go ahead and continue. Cold War, Cold War, Cold War. The things that I liked most about this new entry in the Fox camp is that it is chock full of period propaganda, a subject that for me comes only second in fun to the much lesser known genre of steampunk. I enjoy films that look at a moment in time and twist it to bits with purposeful stereotypes to stress a point about the society that we may or may not live in today. Films that can get that deep into their source material without directly saying so are the best, and X-Men: First Class does just that.
Smartly surrounding it’s story around the Cuban Missile Crisis, there is plenty of on edge tension and brewing fear to conjure up a list of things for mutants Charles Xavier and Magneto to do. There is a love relationship of sorts, or “bromance” that we have always wondered of it’s roots that is cleverly played out here, and smartly, the filmmakers chose to take their time in telling this story, with a runtime clocking in at over two hours. We also obviously get amazing visual prowess in this story, but smartly that isn’t where the films strength lies. It’s an effects film relying heavily on it’s story, as all films should in the first place, and that’s what makes this film stand out. It is a film chock full of interesting stories and things, and takes the time to focus on that.
There is an awesome mix of mutants that will keep anyone that follows the comics happy, and Kevin Bacon brings to the table a surprisingly worthy enemy of both parties “global domination vs. humanities saviors”. I think many people that are not fans of the comics may find Magneto’s backstory, heavily dripped in the Holocaust as his underlying drive towards such a deep and malicious hatred toward humans, well, rather harsh, and at times possibly difficult for youngsters to deal with.
At the end of the day, it’s an easy recommendation to everyone and I will be there again watching probably even two more times as it was for me, that enjoyable. I give X-Men: First Class, an easy 4 out of 5 stars.
Saving...

Right on-this helped me sort thnigs right out.
I am pondering if the movie is correct to the unique X-Men story? For instance does Mystique actually live with Charles in his childhood and does she later be a part of Magneto following the large stand-off on the island?
Furthermore are there any myths or old story’s that arrive to your brain whilst pondering about the plot in the X Guys Initial Class
