Review
This weekend I saw Chronicle and I still can’t get this movie out of my head. Director Josh Trank, writer Max Landis, along with cinematographer Matthew Jensen do an extraordinary job of combining the harsh realities of life, being a teenager and the super natural. This movie as trailers have eluded, protagonist/antagonist is Andrew Detmer; played by Dan Dehaan. Andrew is a hapless youth, a direct product of our society and a brilliantly designed character. Who through a complete sense of emotional aloneness starts to video tape his life.* This gives the audience a new feel of what can be done with a camera. He along with his cousin Matt Garetty (played by Alex Russell) and friend Steve Montgomery (Michael B. Jordan) come together as a team only through happenstance and are introduced to a large sink hole that has an eerie presence. Through the art of sound as heard in M. Night Shyamalan: Signs the audience is drawn into the super natural aspects of this movie. After the trio realizes that they have acquired telekinetic powers they start to test their skills through teenage shenanigans which lead to their first flight. As Uncle Ben (Spider Man-Stan Lee) and Franklin D. Roosevelt (32nd president of the United States) say; “With great power comes great responsibility…” this movie retreats from the lackadaisical to the real world where emotions (hormones), unfair social economic situations and the aloneness of growing up run rampant.
I have been enthralled with movies since I was a child but as I have grown older my wallet has put a limit to what I can see in theaters and what I can’t. So I usually only attend a movie if it follows the below criteria:
- The movie has to be an action, science fiction, or combination (drama/action, comedy/science fiction etc.).
- Other movies do not use the theater to its optimal capacity. It would be like getting a Hummer just for yourself…yeah it could be fun but not really needed.
- I have to like the trailer.
- Leaves me wanting more.
- Do I know and or like the director/writer/actor of the movies.
- George Lucas is coming out with another movie, I’m seeing it!
Chronicle has passed with flying (pun intended) colors. After seeing the trailer for this movie I was hooked. I had to know more. With the help of Alex Billingtons Skype interview with Josh Trank I was gifted this great little short called Stabbing at Leia’s and the knowledge that some of my favorite movies (Akira and Stand By Me) were also some of the directors inspirations for this movie, this cemented my need to see Chronicle. One of the biggest fears that I have as an avid movie watcher is getting too excited for a movie. Everyone has experienced it, a good movie that is ruined because of over anticipation. Chronicle lived up to the hype though; I went in wanting an epic movie about telekinesis and came out wanting to fly, contemplating the society that we live in and needing to see it again.
If you enjoy intense action based on super natural powers and thought provoking content you will love this movie. Also if you are as impressed with Dan Dehaan performance as I am you may be excited to hear that he may be casted as Tetsuo in the Akira remake.
Other movies you may like if you like this are: Appleseed, Sunshine, Serenity, and Tekkon Kinkreet.
*Don’t worry about shaky camera angles, they are taken care of fluidly.

I dont think it was a good as the hype from the advertising. I thought the idea was cooler then the execution. The film was always predictable and obvious whats going to happen next.
I am performing a task for college in which I’m developing a political party. So i came up with The Chronicle Celebration simply because they target on important problems (such as abortion, global warming, aiding undeveloped countries, health care, assisting the homeless, etc) which will, in time, alter the world.
Well, I’m having a tough time thinking of a image for this party. Anybody have any excellent ideas?

Every Time i try to fill up the tub with sizzling water, it commences running sizzling and steadily will begin turning out to be colder. So by the time that the bath is halfway done, the h2o is only marginally heat and keeps obtaining marginally colder each and every min. At this point, if i flip on any of the faucets in the house, very hot water does not come out, it is very same temperature as in the tub. We have a hot water heater and a practically new house, i attempted rising the temperature on the heater itself, it would seem to aid the difficulty quite little, if at all. Any ideas?
I am planning on serving 200+ individuals very hot chocolate and want to come up with the easiest and most inexpensive way to get ready the very hot chocolate. I have 2 large perc. coffee pots – has any 1 experimented with filling a percalor with very hot water & mixing containers of dry sizzling chocolate mix? What about Nestle hot chocolate syrup. Thanks in advance for any ideas!
Is Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader going to be even worse than the other two since twentieth Century Fox is funding as an alternative of Disney?
I have a excellent flavor for flavors and have manufactured some excellent “hot sauces” before. The only difficulty is; I usually have issues getting my sizzling sauces to turn into thick and clean like business scorching sauces. I like to use hot peppers and incorporate the seeds (since they have all the capsaicin which can make the sauces hot). Does any individual know how to use the complete pepper and get the consistency to be clean and thick?
Thanks!
Hers my story. I am an aspiring movie editor. Movie modifying has extended been my passion. I am planning to show up at USC, UCLA, or NYU for grad school to get my masters degree. If I determine to turn out to be a professor of film as a substitute of movie editing, would a masters degree from one of these colleges (three of the top rated film colleges in the world) get me a career as a professor of film at a university?
I am coordinating a movie venture in collaboration with a best notch production company. I want to save cash by choosing a low-cost cameraman from a firm who makes wedding ceremony movies (I’m in China and theres a lot of these variety of low-cost regional outfits) to do the filming and turning that film above to the manufacturing organization to do the modifying and post production. The substitute is to have that business do the filming as nicely as the editing and publish production. The filming content involves shots of a school and student life at the school as properly as person interviews. I count on some sacrifice in high quality by employing a significantly less qualified local, but I am assuming it will still be very good adequate to make a great project, specifically with specialist modifying and submit production. Is that a honest assumption? Any advice?
