Call of Duty eSports League to Invite Amateurs in 2016

Next year’s Call of Duty eSports League will be upping the prize pool and opening up the registration doors a little wider.

Activision, never to be late to a gathering of money, is already detailing next year’s World Championship and World League for their flagship shooter franchise. Divided into two divisions – Pro and Challenge – the company is hopefully that both professionals and those new to the scene hopefuls will feel encouraged to aim down their iron sights.

The Pro Division of the Call of Duty eSports League will be a year-long event meant for professionals throughout the world. Pro leaguers will begin competing in January with the best teams making it to the official World Championship at the end of 2016. Challenge league participants will have the ability to attend officially-sanctioned LAN parties with winners also earning a spot at the year-end championship.

Players will have the chance to win about $3 million in total prizes for winning the Call of Duty eSports League which, according to Activision, is about three times this past year’s prize pool. By comparison, the recent DOTA 2 International crossed $18 million in prizes and gained enough notoriety to break into mainstream media just after it finished.

This year’s iteration, long announced to be Black Ops 3, just closed up shop on its beta across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC, and is now awaiting its November 6 release. Are you interested in this Call of Duty eSports League?
