Atari, Wizards of the Coast, and Overhaul Games have announced today that work has begun on Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, and Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition. This new edition of two of the most beloved RPGs will feature a new version of the original Infinity Engine, with many modern improvements to streamline the gameplay. The team at Overhaul Games has developers from the original Baldur’s Gate team on staff, so expect it to stay true to the original. This is all we know, after a countdown culminated with this news this afternoon.
I, for one, couldn’t be more excited. This is exciting news. I’ve played few games in my gaming careers as long as I’ve played Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2. If they stay true to the original games, this could be very, very awesome.
