Far Cry 4 Goes Gold

Get ready to embark on an unforgettable adventure to the mountains of Kyrat in the next three weeks, for Ubisoft has officially announced that it’s open-world shooter, Far Cry 4, has gone gold.

Far Cry 4 will put players in the shoes of Ajay Ghale as the young man travels to a fictitious Himalayan country for familial purposes. Here, players will be introduced to the game’s lead antagonist, Pagan Min, and witness the birth of a revolt between the nation’s residents and Min’s thunderous opposition.

Creative Director Alex Hutchinson weighed in on a the game’s take on cooperatively action, claiming that the open-world of Kyrat is full of stories and characters waiting to be discovered alone or with a friend. While cooperative play is not mandatory, Hutchinson said, “[there are] lots and lots of opportunities where it will be twice as much fun or twice as interesting or twice as funny with another person.”

What’s more, Far Cry 4 will also feature a brand new PvP mode entitled “Battles of Kyrat” where players will assume the role of two factions, Golden Path rebels and Rakshasa warriors, and fight for their lives across ten unique multiplayer environments. Interestingly enough, each of the factions play differently from the other. For example, while the Rakshasa will rely on the aid of exotic wildlife and ranged weapons such as bows, the Golden Path rebels emphasis a playstyle revolving around shotguns, assaults rifles, and explosives.

“When I look back at Far Cry 4’s development, I’m amazed at what the team pulled off,” said Executive Producer Dan Hay.

“We added verticality. We gave the player the ability to fly. We gave them the ability to fly in co-op. We gave them the ability to fly and have the other player down on the ground running around while they’re flying. We made the number of encounters way higher. The encounters are different, and the animals are different. The characters are unique, and your friends will have subtly different experiences with the story. I’m proud of both the quality and the sheer volume in Far Cry 4.

Speaking of the game’s successful after the studios 2012’s hit Far Cry 3, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Tony Key, said, “After the critical and commercial success of the previous game, Far Cry is now one of Ubisoft’s top brands. Far Cry 4 will raise the bar for the series yet again.”

Far Cry 4 is out on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC on November 18th.
