Betting on Glass: The Future of Mobile Gaming

Mobile gaming has evolved over the past decade. We saw the birth of the Nintendo DS and the PlayStation Portable in 2004, both of which helped bring attention back to the mobile gaming world. Then in 2007 Steve Jobs announced the iPhone to the world. It wasn’t a gaming platform at first, but the introduction of the Apple App Store and the Android operating system in 2008 changed that forever.

Today, no matter where you look it’s easy to find someone pulling out their phone for a quick game of Angry Birds or Plants vs. Zombies. Casual mobile gaming has been changed forever.

And now, we may be venturing into yet another journey down the road of mobile entertainment. Google Glass is a technology that has been around for nearly a year now, and in that time it’s made many improvements. The newest addition to Google Glass is the ability for, you guessed it, mobile gaming.  Even though Google Glass isn’t a form of augmented reality, the system can still handle basic games even in its current form.

The games are basic but the demonstration shows us that the possibilities are there. Look at where iOS and Android games were back in 2008 and compare them against some of the incredible titles that are available today. Imagine then where we’ll be in another six years time.

Google Glass will be available to consumers later this year. Learn more at http://www.google.com/glass/start/
