The PS4 entered the stage as the likely favorite for the next generation of consoles, so much so that Microsoft backpedaled on many of its less popular features to compete. However, the PS4 is starting may be starting to slip from the “uncontested favorite” spot. Released today, and viewable here:

Sony has put up a massive FAQ for the PlayStation4, addressing a myriad of topics. Today’s point of interest is this little piece of information:
PS4 is equipped with a 5400 RPM SATA II hard drive. Users can choose to install a new hard drive so long as it complies with these standards, is no thicker than 9.5mm, and is larger than 160GB
It looks like if you want more storage space for the PS4, you’ll have to be swapping out hard drives. Not sure how much of a nuisance that might be, but with a single game being close to 40GB, the standard 500GB hard drive might just not do it for you. Personally I plan on having more than 12 games next generation… not to mention a save file or two.
This is the first major chink in Sony’s PlayStation4 armor, at least that I’ve heard. We’ll have to see how people react to this, but I don’t get the feeling it’s going to change any time soon.
