Injustice: Gods Among Us iOS Version Released, is Free

If you’re looking to get in on the action with Injustice: Gods Among Us a couple of weeks before the game’s launch, grab your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad right now. WB Games and Netherrealm Studios have released Injustice: Gods Among Us as a free-to-play iOS app, done by the same team behind Batman: Arkham City Lockdown. It plays as a three-on-three fighting game, allowing you to swap out teammates at will as you face off against a full roster of DC Comics characters.

After some hands-on time with it, I’m really impressed. The fighting is simple – tap the screen for light attacks, swipe for strong attacks, and hold two fingers on the screen to block – but the developers managed to cram in every character’s finishing move from the console version, as well as a number of unlockable skins and characters. What’s more is that you can actually unlock content for the console versions (most likely PS3 and Xbox 360 only, as we still haven’t heard anything about DLC plans for Wii U) including skins, backgrounds, and more.

You can unlock characters as you play, or if you’re in a hurry, you can buy booster “packs” of characters in microtransactions that should be fairly common to anyone who’s ever played a free-to-play game before. Still, the price is right, and it looks pretty; I noticed a memory warning pop up on-screen while using my iTouch (I have the latest model), so I don’t know what’s up with that, but iPhone and iPad users running the latest version of iOS should be fine.
