Activision Goes Green with Turtle Power

There have been many Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle games over the years and now Activision and Nickelodeon are teaming up to create three more.

These three new TMNT games will be based off of the new cartoon series which started late September of last year. The first of three games is scheduled to be released this summer and little detail of that game has not surfaced yet.

With three games intending to be released, one could assume that the second and third games could be on next generation consoles. Or all three could be made for mobile gaming. As of right now, we play the waiting game to learn about the gameplay, systems of choice, and the story. Another assumption is that the games could tie into the story arcs seen on the show. Hopefully the same voice actors that bring the turtles to life on the show, will do the same for the games.

Konami and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles go hand in hand when it comes to video games. The first TMNT game was released back in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Ubisoft took the helm making a TMNT game based off of the 2007 movie followed by TMNT Smash-up for the Wii and Ps2, which was released in 2009.

“Activision is a leader in the gaming industry and we are honored to have them as the global video game partner for our new hit series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” said Sherice Torres , Senior Vice President of Entertainment Products, Nickelodeon Consumer Products. “We are confident that these upcoming games will take gamers through interactive environments and action-packed adventures that truly capture the essence, tone and exciting elements of the Turtles.

“The fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are unique in that they span generations and are very passionate,” said Kurt Niederloh , Vice President, Activision Publishing Minneapolis, Inc. “We respect this passion and look forward to working with Nickelodeon to create games that embody the spirit of the property.” (from the Activision press release)
