Nintendo Wii U owners eager to try out one of the more intriguing services the new console offers don’t have much longer to wait. Giving you just enough time to enjoy it before the world ends, Nintendo announced via their facebook page today that the anticipated Nintendo TVii service will be hitting North American consoles tomorrow via a downloadable update after initially being delayed from the system’s November launch date.
The service allows a user to manage all of their video content – whether it’s Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, or live TV from cable or satellite providers – from a single app, as well as granting the ability to chat with other users while watching or, in the case of sporting events, be able to track scores from other games or specific instant replays directly on the GamePad controller.
“After Dec. 20, you’ll never look at your TV the same way again,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “Wii U owners have already experienced the transformative effect that the GamePad has on game play and social interaction. Nintendo TVii shows how the integrated second screen of the GamePad can also transform and enhance the TV viewing experience. Welcome to the new world of TVii.”
The free app will scan your setup and let you know of whatever services are available upon startup… as for using your cable or dish account, you’ll have to use the same login info you use for the provider’s website.
European Wii U users will have to wait until early 2013 before their shot at Nintendo TVii.
