Pick Up Your Controller and Help Heal Kids With Extra Life

Do you like video games? Of course you do or you wouldn’t be a Game Fanatic with us, but did you know you can help save children’s lives by gaming? Not video game children, but real children all over the world, sick children that need your help.

How can help kids while you level up your Charr Mesmer in Guild Wars 2? Through Extra Life.

Extra Life is a 24-hour gaming marathon that takes place on October 20, 2012. It’s like running a 5K for charity. You sign up, get your friends and family to sponsor you and then you run the race, except your raise is trying to escape defeat the rebel ship on FTL. Trust me on this, running this race takes a bit of training too.

Gamers can sign up to raise money at extra-life.org.

Money raised will go to the Children’s Miracle Network hospital nearest your town or whichever you select. Last year, gamers raised over $1,000,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network. It’s time for gamers like you to pick up your controllers and make a difference.

Participating is easy!

  1. Go to extra-life.org to sign up and get your fundraising page. You and your friends can create a team.
  2. Tell your friends and family to donate to your page. All donations are sent to the Children’s Miracle Network hospital of your choosing.
  3. Come October 20, you play for 24 hours!

For those Game Fanatics in and around the Houston area, join Extra Life Houston as they host a gaming marathon at the Microsoft Store at the Houston Galleria. The event starts at 6pm on October 20, 2012. We’ll be there and we’ll be streaming the event live on the Game Fanatics site.

Extra Life was indeed a special event last year
