At this year’s Dragon*Con, White Wolf met apart from their merger partner, CCP, to discuss the new updates and improvements to their roster of pen-and-paper offerings, and to share some (very limited) information on the World of Darkness MMORPG.
The first topic was Werewolf. Bill Bridges, writer for White Wolf, said of the game that it was intended to draw in the more traditional audience that Vampire never could, and in turn, keep the interest of Vampire fans as well. The new system of rules, dubbed the New World of Darkness, uses a more modern system, and incorporates more balance within the rules than the previous system did. The panel discussed this, and ultimately, as a story-driven game, it really depends on the players’ comfort level when dictating which system they prefer, and both versions will continue in print.

Next on the docket was Exalted, and it was obvious it was created for a different purpose, intended to be “death-dealing” and “apocalyptic”, says writer Michael Goodwin, and that the creators asked themselves, “What can we do that’s going to shake people and shock people?” This setting focuses on becoming something greater, being awesome, and still facing adversity, rather than the lesser standing of characters when characters are first created, akin in Exalted to creating a demigod.
The reboot of the series came about due to, on both sides, audience and developers alike, to find something new and to expand. There was a “marble wall” says Bill Bridges, that had to be overcome to continue moving upward and forward. They felt it was time to revise, and time to bring about the apocalypse, Gehenna, what have you, that the older versions referred to but rarely reached.

As far as the World of Darkness MMORPG, little was said, in an effort to keep up the Masquerade that was such a prominent story point in Vampire: The Masquerade. Bill Bridges did say of the game, though, “It is happening,” and that it would indeed take place in the Vampire universe. Other than this, as of right now, the game is tightly under wraps.

Gungy, that would be INSANITY.
Let’s see this man has spent a trillion dollars stating that it would create jobs shovel ready, fix roads and bridges and schools. 2.5 years later he comes back for a 1/2 trillion more saying we need to fix schools and our infrastructure. Is this a classic example of insanity doing the same thing over and over again hoping the results will be different, or just plain contempt for the American electorate looking at you as a bunch of dimwits, libs what other conclusion can you come up with?
While visiting flooded residents in Hull and in Toll Bar near Doncaster, Gordon Brown announced a £14m relief package for the areas devastated by the recent floods.Local councils will receive £10m for rebuilding, while £3m will go to repair roads and bridges, and £1m will help victims replace their lost possessions.
Hull council leader Carl Minns, who met the prime minister, said the help was welcome but “£14m is not enough”.
What do you think of the government’s response to the floods? How should the emergency aid be spent? Who should receive financial help for flood damage?
Does a ripped one dollar bill have any significance, someone I knew committed suicide( jumped off a bridge). As far as we know so far we have not found a note, but when we walked in his house the first thing you see is a ripped in half one dollar bill on the kitchen counter, the halfs were about an inch apart from each other. Any significance or just coincidence?
How do i make one and what are the parts i need to include. I have my bridge design already completed but i dont know how to make a bill of materials.
Obama keeps promoting the idea of new jobs being created from his Stimulus Bill to help rebuild our infrastructure, e.g. roads, dams, and bridges. This sounds much like the Public Works Projects of the 1930s when we had the Great Depression. But the majority of workers who have been displaced in this current economic downturn are white collar workers. So is the idea now to turn accountants, managers, secretaries, and IT experts into ditch diggers? Will this be inducing hundreds of thousands of white collar workers to put on their dungarees and go shovel hot asphalt? This at least is the picture I have in my mind when I hear Obama talk about what he seems to be planning.
I’ve done plenty of both kinds of work — enough to know that it is a HUGE change to go from white collar to blue collar, yet Obama talks like it’s no big deal to change hats like that, as long as he doesn’t have to do it and can sit in his air-conditioned White House in his finely tailored suits with his Harvard degree. What about all the OTHER people with Harvard degrees or college education? Will this Stimulus Bill be putting highly skilled / highly educated workers into low skill / low paying jobs not requiring much education?
I’ve also heard one statistic that the whole infrastructure rebuilding portion of the Stimulus Bill is only about 5% of the total, yet it seems to get the lion’s share of the focus when Obama talks about new jobs. Is 5% really the number?
I keep looking for the website that will break out just exactly what money is supposed to go where under each of these bills, i.e. the House version vs. the Senate Version. If you know of such a website, bonus points to you here for citing it.
How do we make sense of these spending plans and how might we ascertain whether they really are going to create jobs, and what KIND of jobs are they purporting to create?
Where did all the money go?
Why is President Bush threatening to veto the transportation bill just because the Democrats put extra money to repair and replace bridges that have been rated “structurally deficient”?
We are spending $2 billion a week in Iraq and he can spend a few extra billion to keep our bridges safe? How many more bridges have to fall into rivers?
