For those who still use Microsoft’s Zune as a media device, changes are coming. With Xbox Music launching this fall, it was only a matter of time before Zune would start to feel the effects from it. As of August 31st, the following will no longer be available to those with both the original Zune and the HD version.
- Sending and receiving messages, inviting friends, sharing the songs, playlists, and albums you are listening to, and viewing past play history
- Mixview playback and channel playlists
- Apps for Zune HD
- Purchasing music videos or streaming them as a part of Zune Music Pass from the Zune PC software
- Re-downloading, re-activating, or re-licensing previously purchased music videos if / when you upgrade your PC
If you still use Zune’s Music Pass feature, you will still be able to stream and download music. Those songs and videos that have already been purchased will also not be affected.
Looks like Zune lost the battle with Apple’s iPod, however personally, I still enjoy my Zune but must face the music that it won’t be around much longer.
I don’t want to sound ignorant or anything. But people these days when they hear “technologically” and “advanced” in the same sentence, they think of some european nation or Japan. What about the U.S. of A? We surely could beat some of these countries in some categories. One is our military, and no one can deny it. We have the most advanced and strongest military on the face of the earth. It would take years for anyone else to just get even close to catching up. Also we do have some of the worlds most advanced medical technology. With that we also have the world’s crappiest health care system.
Then it comes to Entertainment. Who do you see making more movies packed with more than needed special effects, and action. And yes lately hollywood hasn’t been impressing me, besides the movie The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Dark Knight, and possibly Hancock. Why do I hear about so many people in America going digital, and not buying CD’s anymore? Would you still consider us lagging behind when actually it seems like we, besides europe, are the only ones downloading music, and not buying CD’s like in the ’90s?
What about technology you know: laptops, software, phones, etc. Major pc makers like HP and Dell have some of the finest laptops in the world, and so does Acer (even though it’s not an american company). Microsoft is a software giant with thousands of computers around the world using it’s operating system Microsoft Windows. Even though I hate Vista’s vulnerabilites with security. Besides that it’s “okay”, but I still prefer XP (hopefully Windows 7 is better). So then there is the whole cellphone thing. It seems like we were lagging behind Europe and Japan for MANY years. But! In recent years we’ve been catching up at a fast pace. I hear rumors about Sprint introducing a 4G network. So face it phones from Europe and Japan aren’t so advanced as everyone thought. Who invented the world’s first touch screen phone? Apple, and who has made the next best competitor to the iPhone? RIM, and I know it’s a canadian company, but this applies for them too.
Now I know we do have a technological edge over many nations in some fields. But in others it seems like we’re still in the 20th century. So basically every country has it’s strength and weaknesses, but the U.S. shouldn’t be underestimated when it comes to how advanced we are? Some of you might think i’m just trying to prove the U.S. is the most advanced nation on earth. When really there is no MOST advanced nation on Earth. I could name many ways on how european countries, primarily U.K., France, and Germany, make life in the U.S. look the same as in the ’90s. Or how South Korea with it’s high-tech infrastucture totally dominates that of America’s. Even Japan with it’s microelectronics.

i just recently bought a wired fm modulator for my zune…..i hooked everything up(bolted the ground to metal) at first i attached the power to my decks power but it got bad sound quality, so i thought it was lack of power…i then attached the power to the fuse relay box, which my amp and subs are hooked up to…and its still buzzing! its horrible on acoustic songs and softer songs…i am using a high quality cable from the modulator to my zune so its not that….im thinking it might be that my car doesnt get very good radio reception…but i thought these things were supposed to input it directly into the radio….someone please help me!!!they want me to drive to where i bought it to get it checked out which is 200 miles away,, with gas prices thats just not possible,thanks anyone who helps
i was in the middle east deployed. with no internet. my zune stoped working and i was unable to use it anymore, due to the fact that you have to update it all the time. well the zune company charged me every month for a product that i couldn’t use. is there anyway of for me to get my money back and if so please help me. i have already called and tried and they all act dumb. they are really not trying to help me. but i know if i knew who to talk to and how to present myself i could get the answers i want…. thank you

I “dated” this guy who was in my class in the 7th grade. It was one of those little childish “relationships” as we were so young. After the “break-up” we did not hate each other or anything like that. Two years later we got back in touch and he became my closest guy friends. We’ve watched each other grow in and out of other relationships with other people and still remained friends. I’ve been hurt and so has he. it’s been almost 8 years since we’ve known each other.
About 2 yrs ago he revealed to me that he was in love with me and wanted me to give him a second chance. However I always put him in the friend zone because he was messing around with lots of females.
At the beginning of this year I decided to give it a try with him and he promised he wanted to make it work. 2 weeks after we started talking we agreed that we were going to stay loyal and honest with each other and we were not going to “talk” to anyone else.
I go to school away from home and that’s about 8 hrs from him so we don’t see each other as often, yet we talk everyday and he came to visit me whenever possible.
Since I am home for the summer we have been hanging out a lot. I lost my ipod and he let me borrow his since he has a zune. Sometimes he uses his ipod as a phone to send text msgs. On the 3 rd week of having the ipod with me, I was just going through a conversation I had with him, when I noticed other convos he’s had with another girls. He was flirting with them and he even told one of them he “wanted” her (in a sexual way). I spoke to him about it and I decided to not continue dating him. His excuse was that he was drunk blah blah blah.
I have never been a naive girl but I never expected him to do anything like that. I understand we were not yet officially a couple and he did tell me that he was flirting with other girls when it happened but I told him I wanted him to stop. I also do not consider him trying to have sex with another girl as “flirting”.
Besides this issue he has always treated me with the most respect and treated me like a queen.
Not to sound naive but I know he has became a better person since we started talking and this issue happened during the first month of us talking.
It’s hard for me to trust people so once the trust is gone..it’s hard to get it back. As much as I love him and want to be with him, I think it will be hard for me to trust him again. I want to make this work but I’m just afraid that if he ever gets “drunk” again he would do it again and he might actually end sleeping with someone else. I am confident that he would not do this in his sober state because he has became such a better person since the first day we decided to talk again. (trust me I know this because I have my head on my shoulders and do NOT let anyone walk all over me…I’m pretty sure if this had happened with someone whom I had recently met, ther would be no question on giving them a second chance!! “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!”)
Nevertheless he is a very sincere guy and has always been good to me. I can either choose to look at this situation as a blessing in disguise and a warning to get away from him or as an obstacle that I need to overcome in order to be with him.
I am willing to forgive him because we all make mistakes and no one is a saint. Love is forgiving and I do love him dearly.
Sooo Should I move on or forgive him and give it another try?

ok i bought an older first generation zune from a kid who got rid of it and got an ipod touch, he told me i needed to download the zune software for free from zune.com and i have done that but it still wont load on my computer because i am missing some other software. so then i went and downloaded the “other” software from microsoft.com but the zune software still isnt working for me…. does anyone have any tips or ideas that i might be able to use that will get this stuff to work?
I’ve been in my Health class for about a month now, and I’ve got to know this kid named Josh. He can be a nice person to talk to, but there is a possessive side of him that makes me a bit nervous. He always insists that we sit within a close proximity of each other, and he gets angry if I try to sit with my other friends.
A few days ago, we started talking about each others MP3 players. He moaned and groaned about his crappy $20 device, and hoping to impress him, I told him about my Zune. He was instantly captivated by the capabilities of the device, and he asked if I could bring it to school.
I hesitated at first, but I sought further attention. The first day I brought it, I was a bit nervous to give it to him. I was afraid that he would break it, or give it to an untrustworthy person. Surprisingly, he treated my device with respect, and he didn’t hand it off to any other students without consulting me first. I was very pleased.
In the days following, he always checked with me to see if I would be bringing my zune the next day. I’ve told him yes so far, but now I’m wondering if I’m not using proper judgment.
He insists on keeping the device with him at all times during the class hour, which bothers me a bit since it is my zune. He will give it back if I ask, but within a few minutes he will always ask for it again. He has grown dependent on the entertainment it provides, and his grades have been suffering because of it.
The thing that worries me most, is the assumption he has made that he will one day have my zune. Ever since I told him that I might be getting a Zune HD or I-pod Touch for my birthday, he has been making statements like “Man, I can’t wait til’ I have this thing!” or “When you get that Zune HD….man, I can’t wait!” or “Dude! How much ya want for it?”
I’ve been telling him that I’m not sure if I’ll get a Zune Hd, and even if I do, I’ll have to consider all of my options first before I sell it. He still asks how much I want for it though, and he says he will pay almost anything for it.
I’m getting worried. I don’t want to sell it to him because I kind of want to keep it as a back-up MP3 player. If I do end up selling it, I don’t want to make a deal with a high school student who might not follow through. What should I do about his possessiveness of me and my zune?
My brother and I (ages 18, 14) got ipod nanos for Christmas. We are very content. However, my older brother , who is 21 and still lives at home, is pissed that he didn’t get one. When i was 11 my mom told me and my real brother that our stepdad (we both thought he was our real dad) was not our really dad.And for the past 4 years have been sh*t.For my whole middle school year(s)(6th.7th.8th)I was grounded for no reason.my mom would get in verbal fights because i was always grounded.at the end of 7th grade,my mom got me a xbox 360 for the summer so i wouldnt be bored,now my step brother(who 9) plays it on average 6 hours a day.Then my step dad made a nice little rule.Me and my stepbrother only get to play the xbox for 1 hour a day,but my stepbrother gets to play 7 hours a day. Okay, for a while now my Zune has been screwing up (freezing, going through the song without any sound) and I started to want to get and iPod. I’ve had my Zune since Christmas ’07, and it was working fine until…… March… maybe and then it started doing what I mentioned up there like ALL the time! So, what I figured was that I was pressing the big circular button in the middle too much to change the song and that’s, I think, why it screwed up, so I started just “swiping” the “touch pad” to change the song and now it doesn’t freeze as MUCH.
But, for about all this summer I haven’t been able to connect the Zune to the computer for some reason!! Whenever I would plug it in the computer wouldn’t make the sound it does when you plug in things to the USB. SOOO… I thought it was just the USB sync cable, so I went to Best Buy and bought a brand new never-before used one, and it STILL won’t connect!!!! I’ve tried everything I could think of!!! I’ve tried putting the cord in a different spot, re-installing the software (which didn’t download right anyways), EVERYTHING!!!
Is there anyone in this world who has possibly had this problem and knows how to fix it or even someone who just plain knows how to fix it?! Please!!

so heres the story… i sold my sisters pink zune on craigslist for 135 bucks. I got a few different replies, but one of them was from this person(idk man or woman), and they said that they would like to buy it for its original price for 260 for their son who is in west africa right now and he is out of town, and they want to know my Paypal ID number so they can transfer me money so then i can mail it to him.???
That was retardly fishy. i emailed him saying that i dont think i can trust this. the ad had my number on it so i told him to call me. he said where he is he cant get phone connection. ARE YOU IN FREAKIN AFRICA TOO?

I’m lookinging to buy a new Mp3 or Mp4 player. My IPod broke a while ago, and I’ve been thinking about buying something new because since then I’ve heard a lot of bad things about Ipods. But I dont know which one i should get. I’ve had my eyeson the Zune for a while now since I saw it in a magazine just before christmas, but it’s still not released yet in Europe? What do you think I should get? I’m going to the states in three weeks, for those who have the zune, do you think it’s worth the wait if I wait until I go to the states to buy it, or should I forget about it and look for something else? What do you guys use?
So, pretty much my entire life I’ve been a Microsoft kind of guy. Technically I still am. I have a Zune, 360, a computer running Windows Vista. I now have an iphone 4g and that’s the only thing from apple I have. The first ever apple product I had was the first generation shuffle.
Any way’s my reasoning for switching to mac is really just to step off the line so to speak and go with something different. I want to get a pretty powerful imac. I’m thinkin core i7, 8 gigs of ram, 1tb hard drive, 27″ screen. That costs around $2,300 USD. I’ve never spent that much on a computer before, so obviously with those specs I’m looking for something to last me HOPEFULLY 5+ years.
All I use my computers for is internet browsing, lots of music and pictures, and the occasional gaming like the sims and warcraft (both of which are compatible with mac) From the articles I’ve browsed it seems like you pay a higher ticket price at first on a mac but every website has shown they are up to par with pc’s and eventually don’t cost as much. Most people who review imac’s love the machines and the most common negative I see is about the glossy screen having a glare sometimes.
I also like how apple sticks with one OS for quite a long time before switching to a new one. The design of the imac also really catches my attention on how it’s all packaged into one big screen a wireless mouse and keyboard so it looks very organized on a desk.
So basically the point of my topic….now that I’ve given reasons why I’m thinking about doing it is I want to know how was switching to a mac? how was the adjustment to it, would you buy another apple computer again? did you switch back?, how are apple computers really?
I don’t want to use limewire because it’s illegal. But i can still pay for the store and get songs legally. For anyone who uses the store: Does it have a great variety of popular songs? because I went to the store, and i couldn’t find any artists I liked…

Alright, usually I’m the one who’s answering questions to you guys but I need help. I have a Creative Zen v Plus 2gig right now and I want to upgrade to more space, a good screen and all that good stuff. My decision was almost made up to get the Archos 5 250GB till I read a little deeper. Now I hear the audio quality (AQ) on the new gens are a step better then previous models. Audio Quality is big for me but space is to. Then I thought do I really want to carry all my tunes with me, some 7000 of them, I don’t know, I did at once and still up in the air. Im gonna list what I like about each players but I need you to help me

screen, space, wifi, dvr dock, all the features
Creative:
been a long time Creative fan but lately haven’t, yea it has a SD slot but it doesn’t add to the internal memory
Zune 120:
Good amount of space, tv out without dock, smaller size, but you have to use there music management to put music on your zune, right? How do you like the software and is there any 3rd party apps/

I hear the audio quality is unbeatable to any other player, but with no wifi on the O2 or S9 and limited space and the biggest drawback which keeps me away…no id3 support on the O2.

Well usually I try to go to bed every night at around 10:00 – 10:30 in order to wake up at 5:30 a.m.. I usually don’t end up falling asleep untill well past midnight though. I can’t seem to stop thinking about things. Usually it’s either random stuff, but it’s like I can’t just think about nothing and let my mind rest. I have fallen asleep in class a few times already, and lets just say its a good thing I usually do my work otherwise I could’ve got into some trouble there. I don’t know if this is normal or not. Unless I’m really tired I will end up laying in bed for hours awake. I used to listen to my Zune while I was sleeping untill a couple of days ago, thinking that may be the problem. But I found I still can’t get to sleep. My mom doesn’t think it’s Insomnia, but she’s not the most reasonable person when it comes to things like that. Two times I remember seeing double vision, possibly from fatigue. It’s well past 10 now and I probably wouldn’t have been able to get to sleep at all tonight without getting some opinions other than my mom’s. Even during the day I can’t stop thinking, I’m one of those people who like to sit around and daydream, thats basically what I do when I’m trying to get to sleep. Well, I don’t know what else to really say, but I just need some opinions here. Thanks =]
Background info:
I was listening to music, skipped to the next song, and it froze. It happens sometimes but when I was still waiting a minute later for the next song to start, I restarted it with the back+up button method. Then it started saying things like “clearing contents, please wait” and I was POd, but I can resynch it, not the end of the world. But then it says “contact support.” So I go on the website, trying to register it so I can send it in, and the service has been down for like 5 days now. And I got to googling, I can’t send it back anyway because I’ve had it for two or three years. No one online seems to have a fix. They always say “restart it and then hit back, left, and center.” I did that twice, it had NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER. It continued to tell me to contact support. Other people said to connect it and reinstall the software. But my computer doesn’t recognize it so I can’t do that, either.
So what CAN I do with this POS? I can send it to a recycling plant and get $4 for my trouble (yeah right). I can sell it on ebay for a penny (ugh). I can use it as a paperweight. Or I can wing it at people who make me mad, I guess, these things are pretty heavy. I’m just desperately hoping there’s something I’ve overlooked that can fix this thing, or maybe there’s some underground site that’ll pay like $40 for parts or something.
