What We Played | July 30 – Aug 5

This is a weekly segment where we share what games we are currently playing for our readers to get to know us a bit better. Said games can range from retro to current and from casual to FPS games. If we’re playing it, we’ll share it. Please feel free to comment with what you’re playing or your opinions on the games that we’re involved with.

Jen: Trying to get off of Hoth (again), in Star Wars: The Old Republic. This time with my Smuggler, Ashima. This is my third time trying to get off of Hoth, not a fan. Played a little bit of Bejeweled 3 over XBLA. Also got the urge to play and beat the endless setlist in Rock Band 3. I remember playing the endless setlist in Rock Band 2, without pausing it. That was very interesting to do and I’m shocked that I did. All for the achievements, right?

Enis: All for the achievements! I remember the endless setlist in Rock Band 2. So awesome!! Attempting to get through Mass Effect 3 on Insanity, but I want to wait for the Leviathan DLC that’s coming out August 18th. Also trying to get through a single round of Platinum..not happenin’… My urge to play WoW again has started to rise, but I’m denying my want to return to Azeroth.

William: Been playing a lot of Smite this week actually. New God released: Anhur. He’s a ranged assassin, and he’s been interesting to play against. I mainly have been playing Arachnae, but been doing awful. Just sayin’. I’ll get better, I’m sure…

Jeff: I really wanted to play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night this week, but I didn’t put nearly as much time into it as I thought I would. That’s certainly not to speak of the game’s quality, it’s still a fantastic 2D Action-Adventure RPG, but it didn’t pull me in like I hoped. To round out the week I played Slender, a free horror game you’re probably very familiar with. It’s the best way to feel like a horror movie victim without losing your life and/or lovely complexion.

Ben: This week I started playing Tales of Xillia which I imported a while ago but am finally getting around to playing now. Bottom line, it’s really really good. It comes out state-side sometime in 2013 and if you like the Tales series at all definitely check it out. It features some great improvements to the real time combat system as well as the majority of the rest of the game.

Greg: Got out my SNES and started playing DKC2. Going to to try to 100% it. Not done that before. Other than that, just a little bit of Orcs Must Die, trying to beat Tom’s scores. Really waiting for Borderlands 2 or Torchlight 2.

Seth: I’ve been playing a lot of EVE, as always, League of Legends (as always), and I started Skyrim up again!
