The Longest Daycare: A 3D Animated Short

The Simpsons have a special place in a lot of hearts and it’s not hard to see why: It’s been around for so damn long.

Despite the fact that The Simpsons Movie was both a critical and fan success, there hasn’t been any talk of a sequel. Fear not, however, as before Ice Age: Continental Drift begins, the most famous cartoon baby will make her return to the big screen. Yes, Maggie Simpson will open for the feature film in her own 4-and-a-half-minute video called The Longest Daycare.

The short will not contain any dialogue, since, you know, Maggie doesn’t talk, and will run at four and a half minutes.

Look for this cute short to hit the theaters with Ice Age: Continental Drift on July 13th and do make sure you get there before the movie starts so you can actually see the short.

  1. I just bought a stand up Simpsons arcade game (2 player) and some of the things, like the control board, and the cabinet look different than other 2 player Simpsons arcade games I’ve seen. Does anyone know why this is? Did Konami make different cabinets and control boards or did people just put the PCBs and marquees in different cabinets?

where do the simpsons live? I know springfield but what state? If you watch each episode it’s supposed to give you hints. I know every state in the union has a city of springfield and they get hurricanes but hardly any snow.

  7. The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical parody of a middle class American lifestyle epitomized by its family of the same name, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. The show is set in the fictional town of Springfield and parodies American culture, society, television and many aspects of the human condition.

The family was conceived by Groening shortly before a pitch for a series of animated shorts with the producer James L. Brooks. Groening created a dysfunctional family and named the characters after members of his own family, substituting Bart for his own name. The shorts became a part of The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987. After a three-season run, the sketch was developed into a half-hour prime time show and was an early hit for Fox, becoming the network’s first series to land in the Top 30 ratings in a season (1989–1990).

Since its debut on December 17, 1989, the show has broadcast 497 episodes and the twenty-third season started airing on September 25, 2011. The Simpsons is the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program, and in 2009 it surpassed Gunsmoke as the longest-running American primetime, scripted television series. The Simpsons Movie, a feature-length film, was released in theaters worldwide on July 26 and July 27, 2007, and grossed over $527 million.

The Simpsons has won dozens of awards since it debuted as a series, including 27 Primetime Emmy Awards, 27 Annie Awards and a Peabody Award. Time magazine’s December 31, 1999 issue named it the 20th century’s best television series, and on January 14, 2000 the Simpson family was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Homer’s exclamatory catchphrase “D’oh!” has been adopted into the English language, while The Simpsons has influenced many adult-oriented animated sitcoms.

Groening conceived of the idea for the Simpsons in the lobby of James L. Brooks’s office. Brooks had asked Groening to pitch an idea for a series of animated shorts, which Groening initially intended to present as his Life in Hell series. However, when Groening realized that animating Life in Hell would require the rescinding of publication rights for his life’s work, he chose another approach and formulated his version of a dysfunctional family.[1] He named the characters after his own family members, substituting “Bart” for his own name, adapting an anagram of the word “brat”.[2]

The Simpson family as they first appeared in The Tracey Ullman Show. The Simpson family first appeared as shorts in The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987.[3] Groening submitted only basic sketches to the animators and assumed that the figures would be cleaned up in production. However, the animators merely re-traced his drawings, which led to the crude appearance of the characters in the initial short episodes.[2] One of the earliest jobs of the Klasky Csupo company was creating animated sequences for The Tracey Ullman Show, on which the characters first appeared.[4] The animation was produced domestically at Klasky Csupo,[5] with Wes Archer, David Silverman, and Bill Kopp being animators for the first season.[6] Colorist Gyorgyi Peluce was the person who decided to make the characters yellow.[6]

In 1989, a team of production companies adapted The Simpsons into a half-hour series for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The team included what is now the Klasky Csupo animation house. Jim Brooks negotiated a provision in the contract with the Fox network that prevented Fox from interfering with the show’s content.[7] Groening said his goal in creating the show was to offer the audience an alternative to what he called “the mainstream trash” that they were watching.[8] The half-hour series premiered on December 17, 1989 with “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire”, a Christmas special.[9] “Some Enchanted Evening” was the first full-length episode produced, but it did not broadcast until May 1990, as the last episode of the first season, because of animation problems.[10] In 1992, Tracey Ullman filed a lawsuit against Fox,

I’ve been trying to figure out what the cash register says when they scan Maggie simpson at the beggining of the show. I’m just curious, I rented the 10th season and tried to slow down that specific part but I still can’t read what it says.

  9. My sister just had baby and I wanted to buy her a suit like the one Maggie Simpson wears on the Simpsons from time to time.

I’m looking for a shop that shells them anywhere in the world, as long as I can get it shipped to the UK.

    Please help!

  10. I’m only asking because I know that the hunting act prevents from hunting foxes with dogs because it is deemed “inhumane”. I know that is legal to kill foxes though and I am wondering what methods are considered “humane”. Shooting, Trapping, Snaring, Gassing. etc?

Before you ask, no, I am not planning on killing a fox. I just want to know because of an argument I am having with my friend concerning the hunting ban.

  11. I`m considering switching to fox from the other station and I wanted your opinions on what you think about the fox affiliates NOT fox news channel. Can anyone persuade me to switch?

  12. I judge fox’s success but how frequent and how vicious the attacks are on it from MSNBC and other left leaning organizations. Right now, the name “Fox News” is a punchline in itself on the Colbert Report and the Daily Show. Seems like Fox is doing something right if liberals are this up in arms about it. What do you think?
@the nazbol returns: you know exactly what I’m saying. I’m wondering why the mere mention of their name strikes such a tense chord in liberals.

  13. Were questions asked by Fox that are not allowed by our government ?
Yes , I understand that Fox has conservatives in addition to left wing extremists such as Geraldo . Are we banning the press because of this ? Should the Republican representatives start banning ABC , CNN , NBC , and CBS because they hire left wing journalists ?

Fox has never, ever, ever aired a piece which portrayed Obama, the Democrats, or liberals in a good light, or even a neutral light.

You can sit there and claim “That’s because those groups never do anything right” or some other partisan quip. But that just shows how far-right you really are. If you can’t even admit that Fox is biased you’re just hurting yourself. Wake up people! You don’t have to agree with MSNBC or CNN, but at least realize that Fox is wildly one-sided and biased.

  15. I want to make a fox character that has a mostly tan/gray/cream colored pelt, and is a generally happy and hyper guy.
What kinda fox fits this mostly?

  16. I’ve contacted about 20 numbers from the DNR with NO answers! I’ve googled for many hours and I just called the department of agriculture. Please help.

    Note: Specifically fox tails!

  17. I know in order to own a fox, a license is required among other things. I understand that they are difficult pets and that they should probably be kept in the wild. I just need to know which states, if all requirements were met, is it legal to have a fox in. Also, not a Fennec fox, but rather something like a Red fox.

  18. Or is it just because Fox is conservatively biased? What about liberally biased networks? What about CNN, NBC, CBS, and ABC? What about ABC trying to sell 0bama’s healthcare plan to people and not allowing any voice of opposition to be heard?

  19. My daughter is in 4th grade and has to make an artic fox out of recycable materials, got ideas. I thought about newspapaer, and wire (I think I saw this ideal somewhere). Got suggestions on how to do this?

  20. Some commentators at fox new have suggested that the government should lower the minimum wage of $7.25 an hour to fix our economy. In other words take away from those who can least afford it, so that the the wealth can trickle upwards. And finally how do these people sleep at night?

  21. I have mice and 2 dogs. My contained traps are not working and do not want to use D-Con: 1) because I am afraid my dogs will eat it and 2) dont want dead mice in my house. My questions are as above…is the fox gland lure poisonous and do the high frequency devices really work?

  22. I heard this from the former speech writer for George W. Bush who was interviewed on MSNBC. I see. Obama is the antiChrist and FOX is the beast. Come Jesus.
