In today’s world, people have access to more information than at any other time in history. The latest news can be updated on website in less than one minute. It is faster than any other sources such as radio, television or newspaper. Online news and cell news provide customers with fast updates, cell phone access and interactive programs. Customers and readers now have opportunities to comment on some of these news programs through text messages and emails. The most developed and interesting features for news are Google News, Yahoo News, and MSN News. They all try their best to provide international, local, national, weather, economic, entertainment, sports news etc. It is hard to choose which one is better because they are superior in different ways. I think Google News is superior compare to Yahoo News and MSN News because it has news in many different languages; it provides news more rapidly than Yahoo or MSN; it is more popular in the world due to relevant news for larger group of audience.
Yahoo news is more about entertainment, sports and miscellaneous events. As an example, headline for yahoo news is more likely about sports or entertainment. MSN news is more about financial and economic issue. Google news is designed for Common news readers who are looking for over all general news, a bit of everything. People who are seeking the option for news papers find Google news more convince. Google use about four thousand five hundred sources to update the news continuously and fast. Secondly the home page for Google news is much more descriptive than yahoo news or msn news’s homepage. Home page of yahoo news and msn is more visual effects and pictures while Google news is concerned about textual news. As newspaper shows a little part of article on first page and shows the rest on interior page, Google mostly include all news headlines on home page and than direct the rest part of the headlines in their category sections. Yahoo news and MSN news include only main news on their main pages. Finally, the data is shown that Google accounted about 71% US searches (www.webanalyticsworld.net). Google’s search engine has been first choice of users with 89% hit compare to all other search engine, according to data shown onhttp://search.sys-con.com/node/166698). This is a main factor of popularity of Google news. Because Google news is linked to the Google search engine box, it is easy to trick people to get in the Google news.
Online news should not focus on particular area or region such as USA or Canada. It supposes to design for world wide audience. In this case, google have branches in many countries that represent news of their nations. This also makes Google popular everywhere in the world compare to Yahoo news and MSN news. As an example, when I was in India, I had never used or heard about MSN news or even had never seen a friend using it. Everybody isn’t familiar with English and Spanish languages in the world, especially populated countries like China, Argentina, and India etc. Yahoo and MSN don’t offer variety of languages for news so people who are not familiar with English can’t take advantage of Yahoo or MSN, because they don’t offer as much languages as Google news. In this case, Google prove to be superior with more than forty different languages for news. In addition, Google news is more rapid than yahoo news. As an example, news posted on google, “ Cassel , Morris lead Pats to 41-7 win over Broncos.” By HOWARD ULMAN – 39 minutes ago. The same news by same author was posted after nineteen minutes on yahoo news, “Cassel, Morris lead Pats to 41-7 win over Broncos.” By HOWARD ULMAN, AP sports writer – 20 minutes ago.
In conclusion, popularity of search engine, keep Google News on the top. Simple and focused news also attract the people. The data shows that the hits and the numbers of users for Google is way ahead compare to Yahoo news and MSN news.
I work from home as a freelance writer, and it’s pretty much impossible to find any time to write with a 6-month-old. I love spending time with my daughter, she’s my world, so I’m not looking for something full time, I was just thinking a sitter for…maybe 4 hours a day, 3 days a week. I want to ensure my daughter is well cared for, so I want to pay extremely well and I want someone who is very experienced and can meet my needs. I am thinking $30 an hour, which would total up to $360 per week, but I expect someone with glowing references, CPR/first aid certified, and who has lengthy experience working with infants. I expect not to be disturbed during the 4 hours I am working, barring emergencies. I of course will spend the first week training her so I can answer any questions she might have. I want someone who will do interactive play with my daughter, no tv during the 4 hours she is there, and who will take my daughter on outings to the park or wherever (I will compensate for gas and other expenses). I need someone who is a self starter, creative, and patient. I need someone is energetic and active. I do not expect them to do ANY chores, period. Cleaning up their own mess is it, the focus should be on my child. They can help themselves to any food in the home.
Is there anything I am missing? Does the pay and requirements seem reasonable/acceptable? Thank you.
Because I am studying English as second language, I didn’t care about what my grades going to be. Therefore, I focused on how I can gain benefits from the class? Some times, I wouldn’t do my home work, while other I wouldn’t study for a quiz. Usually when I study a book that I feel I gain benefit from, I continuo with until I feel that there is no more knowledge will help. All what I care about is the TOEFL test which is require from the university. But, now I am stuck; my parents asked me about my grades in the program. I don’t know what can I said to them because they expect a lot from me. Now, I realize that my grade in the program is important, but what should I tell my parents. I can send them fake grades easily. But I am not sure, because they might find out. If I will tell them that I don’t care about the program as I care about the TOEFL they might be upset and tell me that is not an excuse. Please, help, Give some suggestion.
Thank you & I appreciate your interactive answers
for a high school history project we are focusing on women throughout the 20th century (changes of legal status, role in the home/work force, basically any change women experienced). we are supposed to make a “museum exhibit” for the class, one part of the project being “interactive.” i’ve been stuck on what i could do to get the class involved.
e.g. get the class to sing along with a song performed by a famous women during the 20th century. that was the example the teacher had given us
if you could help i’d appreciate it very much!
I worry about sending my little one (infant – 3 months) to a national chain day care where they could just sit all day. I’m really looking for something interactive that will get my child learning. The only thing I can think of is day care at someone’s home, where they will be focusing on fewer children. Any suggestions on how/where to find people who do this? Any suggestions on other alternatives for daycare where my child will get a lot of interaction and learning experiences? I’m also considering a nanny, but cost may be an issue.

Note: for those who recognize, this question, sorry, I had it posted in the wrong section and reposted it here instead.
I’ve always been a dreamer. When I was a kid I used to read lots and lots of books. I started out with fairy tales from varying cultures (Arabic, Danish, Persian, etc.) Then I got into fiction books. Around the time I became a teen, I found video games. Plus, I had moved to a different country (and kept moving a fair bit after that) and I didn’t find reading in English to be quite as enjoyable as in my native language. So I started playing video games in quite excessive amounts (but not role-playing games, mind you
). I didn’t have any other hobbies. I also didn’t have much parental or adult supervision, nor any close friends, just a sibling. In general, I spent many of my days simply wasting time.. and my mind. I didn’t do anything productive (and I consider myself an intelligent person) nor did I learn much of anything useful.
Among other things, I didn’t really have responsibilities as a kid or a teen. I didn’t participate in extra-curricular school activities like team sports or some chess or knitting clubs or what not. To be honest, I didn’t have much of a chance to do those things due to transportation difficulties, but I also never cared for those things. I never had the ‘school spirit’ and always made fun of it. No, I don’t regret having missed the “Junior Varsity blah blah” and getting a ribbon or even having made friends that were oriented with said school activity, but as a practical matter, I do regret not having learned the life skills, such as determination, effort & reward that, let’s say, a team sport might have taught.
I had begun to feel very old, like I’d lived my entire life and nothing new could ever possibly happen. You could say I was depressed. But it’s OK, I had my daily fix of interactive media of various formats and I never really slowed down to think about it. After a time, I don’t think I was even able to do so, even if I had tried. I think I had almost lost the ability to think about social or personal things in general. And no, I wasn’t a loner at school, I wasn’t the silent kid, but at home I certainly was.
Add to this another factor: my ADD. I’ve never been good at keeping focused, nor could I ever really finish anything unless under constant pressure, but not long after I stopped reading books for what blamed to be the fault of the language barrier, I realized that I could not longer read books because.. I couldn’t concentrate long enough. I’d read half a page and I couldn’t read anymore, not because I didn’t comprehend what was happening but because my mind was..? I don’t know. I don’t know why. I just blame my ADD (and also, at the time, OCD). Now it’s true that most kids hate reading nowadays but I hadn’t been that way initially, and, like I had mentioned, I simply replaced books with video games.
In general, for the better part of my life, I’ve been feeling like I’m in a dream, as though my actions have no consequences. Towards the end of school years I realized that things don’t have to remain so bleak and repetitive and I started blaming circumstances less and began to figure out how I could change myself, and hopefully, in time, live with clarity and peace. And right now, I’m perfectly clearheaded, hardly play video games anymore, and actually have a capacity to reason about myself and personal things. But I still have many issues. Among them, LIVING IN THE PAST. Always thinking.. “hmm… I really wish I had done THAT instead of that”. Or “if I could only go back X many months or years ago, I’d do all that infinitely better!”
But this seems very pointless, because I’m not sure how much I can learn from exploring the past for the billionth time. I feel like I was a different person then, 8 years ago. And 5 years ago. And even just one year ago. However, there’s a problem. I still can’t deal with reality, with the present. I go back into the past, try to reason it all through, and my journey abruptly stops right when it approaches the present. So I’M STILL DREAMING! I’m not functioning in real-time. I no longer blame ADD for my absent-mindedness and I try to constantly be aware of what’s in front of me.
But I do feel a sense of urgency, because the clock is ticking. I don’t know where I am going. I have a unique difficulty in analyzing or simply facing the present & future. But I feel that things are getting better all the time and I enjoy having everything make relative sense. And yet, many of the people I know all seem to have a much better idea of what they want, or at least go on confidently about it. And I feel like one day they’ll all take flight and I’ll be left behind. Or, just as likely, I’ll have to move out on my own, maybe transfer to a new college or university and have to begin everything all over again.
I could go on indefinitely.. Basically my question is: how do I face the present more boldly? How do I begin
Hi there,
I am a talented divorcee and I need a job. I can’t afford to work for minimum wage and mathematical shortcomings are all that is keeping me from my degree (I have flunked remedial math 4 times and can’t take my science courses to obtain my degree without a passing math grade) I have 167 college credits with a 3.45 gpa if you subtract the math courses from my overall GPA.
I have owned my own jewelry store, been an assistant manager of a pawn shop, been a private investigator, and am the only NAIS certified adoption search specialist in the entire country. I have worked as a Karaoke DJ in bars and private parties but my karaoke gear is not working presently and I can’t afford the repairs being unemployed.
I have also written computer game reviews for Amiga world and Computer Gaming World magazines.
I served as the president of the Abington Downs homeowners association in Madison, Alabama and was on the Architechural control Comittee.
I have no resume because most of my experience is self employment.
I really need to find a high paying job or entry level at about $35-40K in order to make my bills.
Below is an example of what i have come up with for a resume, I think it stinks, I need help. Please offer suggestions.
I can’t move I live in San Diego.

Objective: To land an entry level job at Yahoo! Near or from my home in San Diego, Ca.
Summary: This is not your standard resume, and I am not your standard future employee.
I would make an excellent choice in a position at Yahoo! because after years of real life experience I know it is all about the bottom line and results, and experience has taught me how to achieve this goal. My college GPA stands at about 3.45 however in addition to having a good education, at the age of 43 I have a lot of real life experience that other younger entry level candidates can’t match. Education is important, but many things can’t be taught in a book. Furthermore, as my former mother-in-law once said of me I am, “Honest to a fault”. Honesty and dependability are very important to me. I know a company like Yahoo! values these traits too. I have had a thriving web based business in the late ‘90’s focusing on the Tiger Electronics interactive toy “Furby” which promoted this toy and generated thousands of dollars in revenue on click through commissions alone. I am high energy and enjoy the spotlight. I have worked as a professional disc jockey and karaoke entertainer for 12 years, I was also a licensed private investigator and taught beading classes and jewelry craft in my own boutique in Madison, Alabama. I have been to fourteen countries both for business and pleasure. I have also been a relief worker in the Honduras. All this while raising a family of four children. These things make me a great choice for any entry level position.
Most of my experience stems from self employment or volunteer work. Again, unlike your average candidate, I can’t list dates employed here or there, because being a Mom and a wife came first when I was married. I have not punched a clock since I left the US Navy in 1987. I have been working on my BA sporadically, as money permits, and also working on repairing my credit post divorce induced bankruptcy. Please do not judge me on my credit report; it is not a fair representation of my credit-worthiness. Much of the red is still pending litigation with my former spouse and as much as I wish I could pay all the joint debt we held, I can’t.
I would like the opportunity to sit down and discuss a position at Yahoo! in an interview. I am sure that once Yahoo! sees that I am a fast learner, outgoing and LOVE people, Yahoo! will know I am the right choice for a position.
I am hoping to earn at least 35 – 40K in my first year, but do not want to place a 40K limit upon myself… I require at least 20K and would need health benefits and retirement.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Leah XX

Objective
This assignment has been designed to give students a hands-on experience of:
Developing HTML page
Validation of web page using JavaScript
Assignment
It is required to build a web page using interactive form with the following specifications as shown in the diagram:
Here are the details:
The page background is Grey.
First line is written in H3 tag.
Then there is a table with border size = 6 and it is center aligned.
The VU_ID field should not allow entering more than 11 characters.
You have to provide your City name as the default value in City field.
Now if “Reset All” button is clicked, all the fields must be reset to their default values.
If “Verify” button is pressed, it should check the following things:
a.If the text entered in VU_ID field is not your VU_ID, then it must display a message.
b.If Name and City fields are empty, then it must display a message.
After displaying the message, focus must be given to that field where the required information is missing.
You have to make a function to perform all these verifications (discussed in point ‘a’ and ‘b’ above) and then simply call this function when Verify button is clicked.
Once all the required information is verified, it must open VU home page (http://www.vu.edu.pk) in new window
Note: You are required to submit the HTML file (with .html extension) for this assignment. No other file will be accepted.
Demonstration:
For example my VU_ID is BC080400001, so I will build the web page like this:
If I enter anything in the VU_ID field except my VU_ID (BC080400001 or bc080400001), and click Verify button, it must display a message, like this (after displaying this message, focus must be returned to the VU_ID field):
If I don’t enter anything in Name field and click Verify button, then it must display this message (after displaying this message, focus must be returned to the Name field):
Same is the case with the City field.
Once all the required information is verified, it must open VU home page (http://www.vu.edu.pk) in new window, like this:
Additional information:
For security reasons, some browsers display an information bar, if you try to open the web page in which you have used JavaScript.
Simply click on this information bar and select Allow Blocked Content…
Then Click “Yes” button to confirm.
