Hydravision Entertainment has announced that Dungeon Twister, a turn-based strategy game is being released on PSN July 3rd in the USA, and July 4th in Europe and Australia. Dungeon Twister is an interesting mix between chess and Dungeons & Dragons.
Dungeon Twister pits two players against each other inside of a dungeon with eight adventurers, where only one player can win. According to Hydravision Entertainment, each game will last between 30 and 45 minutes and is made up of two phases:
- The positioning phase, in which the player can develop his strategy by selecting his starting team and where the adventurers and the magic objects are situated.
- The game phase itself where the player develops his strategy… and has to adapt to his opponent’s personality.
Five points wins a game, and there are only two ways to score points: by either fleeing the dungeon or to fight and kill your opponent. Hydravision Entertainment hopes this will allow players freedom of playstyles and the ability to adapt to the match at hand.
A player’s adventurers will each have their own characteristics, and a troll will differ from a goblin or human. Being Dungeons & Dragons, there is magic, of course, and they’re found in the form of items spread throughout the map.
Control of the adventurers, as well as rotate one of eight rooms per map, using a special power, magical object, or to start a combat will take action points, which can be used each turn.

Are there any other good 2 player based strategy games with a lot of variety and quality? Or 1 that is better than territory war?
There was this one game i had a long time ago for PC but i forgot what it was called. It was based in medeival fantasy genre, and had goblins and vampires and dragons, pretty much all kinds of armies and creatures. The gameplay was similar to “Advance wars”, being that it was turn-based strategy with units being created and moving around. One distinct feature i remember about it was i think the game was divided up into hexigonal spaces instead of square ones, giving you six positions to attack from instead of 4.
Say where you build your empire, defend it and attack enemies. Maybe you get 1 turn a day to allocate resources and issue orders to your empire. Something that would take no more than 10 minutes a day. Where if you didn’t issue instructions, it would continue with you previous orders?
I would guess it’s PC based on the web. If you know of any that sound like what I’m describing, please let me know.

2 of my favorite all time video games are Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Civilization III. However, after beat both games repeatedly in numerous different ways, along with other (also excellent) Civilization series games, I’m in need of a new game to get into.
