Star Wars The Old Republic Server Moves

As many : players know, the move from ghost town-like servers to highly populated ones started to take place this past week. Those who were used to a low amount of people on a planet are now surrounded by many. There would be times where I would be the only person on a planet and I am happy to report that is no longer the case. The only planet with a low amount of people thus far has been Quesh, solely because it’s a fast planet to get through and not many want to stick around.

The transfer from one server to another went smooth however there were a few speed bumps along the way. Those who transferred over to a server with a character of the same name were forced to change their character’s name. I only had to do this with one of my characters, thankfully, but I have to wonder if the person that has the character with the same name, isn’t an alternate that is just sitting around doing nothing.

Another issue that I and others came across was trying to transfer over all eight characters. The first seven went over to Ebon Hawk smoothly, but the eighth did not want to go. When I tried to transfer my Sith Warrior over, a lowbie, I received the message that I had ran out of slots. In order to bring my evil girl over, I had to create a new character on Ebon Hawke and then delete him. That tricked the “system” in allowing me to bring over my eighth and final character.

Its delightful to see so many on one server. If you’re on a deserted server, keep an eye out on the transfer page for more information to see if your server will make the move.

  1. I downloaded Star Wars: The Old Republic the other day, and I am not impressed. I experienced very heavy lag throughout my time with the game. When I would try to move my character, there would be a delay, and then he would severely overshoot where I was trying to go. This was incredibly frustrating, and made the game basically unplayable. Will the patch (or whatever reason the servers are down today) fix this? And if not, how can i fix this myself. I paid 60 bucks for this game on top of 15 dollars every month. I’m not just going to quit playing, so how can I fix this issue?

  2. I just got SWTOR for my windows 7 and it was working well at first but it has an extreme amount of lag. Its not very laggy at all in small areas like a small room but if i go out into the overworld its extremely laggy to the point where i cant move right. If i go into a corner i dont get lag or if i look up at the sky or down on the ground also no lag.Only when i have my character looking straight ahead in the overworld or crowded area. I dont know if its the server but i tested a character on a light populated server and the same lag continued. Any help please?

  3. So, I asked a similar question, the people who responded didnt get it, so I’ll be more specifc. Can I have other players tag along with me in TOR?, How many?, Can they play with me throughout the entirety of the game? Are there parts where Im required to play alone? Hope thats specific enough.

  4. Just like the question states. I missed the segment for BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic at this Years E3. Where can I find the full stream online?

    Thanks!

  5. By how similar, I mean role playing. While I have heard Jade Empire has meaningful choices, I don’t know how similar the dialog is. Also, does Jade Empire have a party system where you can have relationships with other party members?

  6. I used to be a player of Lord of The Rings Online for 2 years and got to (at the time) level 65. I then grew tired of the game and couldn’t get back into it when Isengard was released.
I then took a break from LOTRO and went to play it again and couldn’t enjoy it so I decided to take part in the free weekend of Star Wars The Old Republic.
Game play wise I found the game play a breath of fresh air and quite refreshing compared to LOTRO however it did seem quite quiet playerwise and seemed to be lacking in players and MMO feel of other MMOs from what I played. I was also shocked by the graphics of the game which looked like a PS2 game rather than a high end MMO!
Would the graphics be different with a full account and in terms of users is the MMO full of players and things to do?

    Thanks
