Age of Wushu Welcomed to US by Jet Li

Snail Games not only piqued their players’ interest by unveiling their martial arts-based MMO Age of Wushu this week, but before it even hits North American shores, will undoubtedly familiarize themselves with the face of the upcoming title.

Renowned martial artist and acclaimed star Jet Li will be endorsing the under a two year contract for Snail Games, which not only includes making appearances and filming spots, but representing the actual style of fighting that Li has been practicing since the age of eight.

Wushu, the Chinese martial art from which the game’s domestic release obtains its namesake, is composed of full-contact moves as well as aerial tactics that movie buffs and players alike have come to appreciate throughout Jet Li’s expansive filmography. Known most recently as one of the members of 2010’s flick The Expendables along with Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis, Li is now using the flair and dexterity previously demonstrated in Unleashed and Romeo Must Die to promote Age of Wushu’s intense and similarly skill-based combat.

The game has already acquired more than 20 million users in the Snail Games’ homeland of China alone, and E3 goers will be getting a sneak peek at an early build of its American version this week.

As acquainted as gamers may be with its spokesperson, Age of Wushu will be introducing a potentially unorthodox exclusion of levels and classes otherwise expected by fans, making the outcome of every game virtually impossible to predict. International testing period begins soon for those interested in being the first to move with superhuman speed and perform gravity-defying leaps and sprints.

Li’s other current projects include returning as Yin Yang for The Expendables 2 with the same gang, but look forward to Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme and Liam Hemsworth joining the crew this August.

For more information about Age of Wushu, head over to the game’s official website.

  1. Hi there,I enjoy reading through your article post, I wanted to write a little comment to support you!

  2. I purchased Clippers tickets for the April 14, 2010 home game through ticketmaster. I chose the snail-mail option because it was free and it was January. The confirmation email said they would email when they were ready to mail them out, but now it’s two weeks before the game, and I’m not sure if it’s normal to not have my tickets in hand already. Someone please tell me I’m not out several hundred bucks. I didn’t buy ticket insurance.

  3. I just bought a Toshiba Dynabook TX/65JBLBI

    Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz processor

    4GB RAM

    Intel GM45 Express Chipset

    16″ 1,366 x 768 resolution LCD display

    320GB hard drive

    DVD Super Multi drive

    Wi-Fi connectivity

The problem is, whenever I install so weak games like Counter strike, snail mail etc, it always lags!!?
    Some please help me
    thanks

  4. I have to turn on Windows Media Player to make Turbo 21, Phlinx, and Sweet Tooth run very fast, because when it ISN’T on all three games and possible others are slower than a snail! Is there anything I can do elsewise? I have updated Sun Java before and that doesn’t help. Is there a file I have to download to speed things up? Please help me out. Thanx!

  5. It’s not on the soundtrack, I know a rockband plays it I just wasn’t sure if it was Shinedown or someone. Or even what the name is. Any help please?

  6. I’m twenty two and I want to learn Wushu Kungfu. I don’t want to be a professional at it or anything but I would like to get to a good level. It’s my dream to learn and I also want to get fit and be healthy. I just want to know if twenty two is too old to be getting into martial arts and if it’s possible to become more flexible at this age. My assumptions are that when you’re a kid your still growing and can train your body to be flexible but when you an adult your bones “set” and you can’t ever become more flexible than you are. But I think of people who take up yoga and they seem to become more flexible so I’m wondering what’s true or not. Do I have even a moderate chance of being good at Wushu?

Right now my flexibility level is touching my toes with no bent knees but not much than that.

  7. i am going to be a freshman in high school next year and i want to be in the jv cheer squad.

i am rather athletic, although i suck at running. i am mostly sheer power, and have more upper body strength than other girls my age (i can do 30 push-ups easily, no “girl” push ups). i am somewhat flexible and i can do handstands and backbends easily. i do martial arts, taught by a FOB chinese guy that has been doing wushu for most his life, so much that he probably hasnt gone to college yet and speaks a tiny amount of english. he is a very hard teacher and expects much from us. as a result of his training, i can kick VERY high, know a variety of punches, kicks, strikes, and etc.

the issue is, i am not a spirited person. i am the least spirited person i know. i am not anything like the cheerleader stereotype. i am asian through and through–good grades, anime-loving, the whole thing. i have short emo-style hair that struggles to stay in a ponytail.

so, can i make the squad

  8. Im physicaly fit, so Now I already found Wushu Dojo, I will do Wushu and acrobatics in same time , so I love to flip , like jackie chan, so is it still got time for my age ?? im 20 I can learn this type of K F ? or tooo late for my age ???? :(

  9. I’m 13 5 foot 4 not to brag but very well built for my age

and I’m very flexible, I’ve got great kicking power

and I know all about the styles but I want to know witch one is more street effective

    and suits me best

o and in case your wondering the masters are

wing chun – Masters Tony Yung and Kam Wong both with over 15 years of coaching experience. Both are third generation students of Master Ye Wen/Ip man.

Wushu – JI HONG the master of the biggest tai chi and wushu school in my city

hung Gar – Master Harry Cheung learned Hung Gar from a well-known master Hong Kong: Grand Master Lam Jo (95 years old). Lam Jo’s master is Lam Sai Wing who learned Hung Gar from the famous Master Wong Fai Hung.Grand Master Lam Jo has taught many students from all over the world. Harry has been practicing Hung Gar for about 40 years in Hong Kong. He also had a number of years of training in Judo and Wu Shu – Modern Chinese martial art. Assistant Instructors: Ken Wong, Paul Bassette.

    so, Hung Gar

    Wing Chun

    Wushu?

  10. 11. Sup, mid-life crisis man here.

I started Martial Arts when I was 5 years old.

By time I was 14 I had a black belt and many victories in kyokushin and by time I was 15 I had a black belt in Taekwondo and had fought 18 undefeated fights and was offered the opportunity to fo fight in South Korea, but couldn’t because of money.
At 15 I felt like I had accomplished enough in gloved Karate and Taekwondo, so I tried Wushu and Muay Thai boxing and was on the school gymnastics team.

I took massive influence from Martial Arts films, and I wanted to be a stunt man, and eventually work my way up to becoming the best action and stunt choreographer in the business and putting together a team and that was my life goal, but never really knew how to get into the industry and by time I was 21, I was working a job I absolutely hated and still couldn’t find work as a stunt man, mostly because I lived in the UK and was thousands of miles away from Hollywood and the stunt industry here isn’t very good, and I never got the money together to go to Hollywood.

So I joined the Army and I stayed there until very recently when finally got out at the age of 33, and I haven’t done any martial arts for 12 years and I can’t do anything any more.
I’m back to a white belt, and trying to go to Hollywood at my age to do what I want to do would never happen now, not at my age.

I work a regular job and live a regular life, I’m currently studying Capoeira and Jeet Kune Do, and I don’t feel like a real martial artist, I feel like some drone who does it in his spare time.

    Is this it?
Regular life, is it that interesting?
Is it worth it n the end?
I help people, I tried that, I used some of my army money to go to south America and build things and I have worked for charities, but I don’t feel fulfilled by anything.

I feel like hobbies are nothing more than things we do to keep ourselves occupied whilst we wait for death.
Its like playing a gameboy whilst in a waiting room and that’s all hobbies are.

I don’t feel fulfilled by a job, they are all the same, and its all about money.
When I wanted to work in stunts, I wanted to earn a regular wage, I didn’t want to work for money, I wanted to work because its the only kind of job I find interesting.
When people start talking about getting jobs that pay a lot, I tent to stop listening, because people who work for nothing more than lots of money are the most boring and mundane people on the planet, I might be a middle aged loser whining over the internet, but at least I’m not a money whore, that is a true life of shame, yet that’s all I ever get “Well go to college and get a good job” but they all suck.

    What now?

    Can somebody explain?

I went in the army, I’m in college and work now for a job I could care less about and I have hobbies…
    Now what?
    Marriage and kids?
    Hell no!
I would never bring a kid into this world, and I think marriage is the most pointless human ritual in history, and all the women I meet bore the hell out of me.

    Are lobotomies legal?
Can I remove the part of my head that still wants to have fun that doesn’t involve alcohol and computer games and the oh so fun activities that involve staring at a screen?

I talk to my co-workers at my job and my class mates on a night and all they do is talk about their kids and their bills, and is that all life is???

    REALLY??

Has the part of your brain that might see life as an adventure died with your youth?

    What adventure?

Most of the women I meet want to go on an adventure to some pretentious restaurant, rather than anything fun, that’s until we have been together a while, then her idea of an adventure is a trip to bed bath and beyond.

    People bore me too much.
    Curl up and die..
Or carry on living the way you boring drones seem to be happy living…

That’s hard….. however, I am wandering how exactly I would die from that…
I didn’t want to be famous, I just wanted to be a respected stunt coordinator and choreographer to the people in the biz.
Not famous and have fan, just work in films and be respected by the industry.

    So what?

Lower my expectations to being a boring mother fucker like you?

I have been to a councilor, all that’s all she said, lower your expectations and be mediocre, I would rather be depressed and wanting more than a mediocre slug like you bitch.

  13. mal_functiongeo August 26, 2012 at 11:43 pm -

I regularly attend Shaolin Wushu Classes and the Gym.
I want to try a diet that will boost my mass.
I am 38kg and 14 years of age

  14. Am 16 years old and between 5″ – 6″(don’t really know my height or weight). I am skinny but not flexible. I work very hard when it comes to improving something. I did boxing for 4 months but moved here but am thinking of trying a different martial arts.(going to gym soon) but have a lot of stamina (am in the athletics club).I have recently been interested in martial arts but don’t know what one to do because there a lot of them near my area.I like the belt system they use in karate because I make a goal like achieve a red belt by 6 months etc. I was gonna visit the martial arts ones that are in my area but I figure it would take too long. So, what do you guys recommend I should do. I want an martial where it can help me in a street fight (fighting multiple people etc.) and also maybe some weapon handling. I would like to spar with people to see how much I progressed. I an martial arts where mainly I will like meet people in my age so I can spar make friends, rivals etc. I wouldn’t mind joining tournaments and stuff like that. I just want something I can mainly focus on achieving like self discipline and things like that.
These are some of the martial arts that are in my area:
    Akido
    Boxing
    Capoeria
    Tai chi
    Karate(Shotakan and Kyoushin)
    Kenpo
    Kung fu
    Kick boxing
    Tae Kwon Do
    Jiu jutsu (BBJ too)
    Wushu
    Judo
    Shaolin way
    Wing chun (kinda far away)

I’ll leaven up to you guys what do you think thanks. (sorry for my spelling and my paragraphs not making sense i apologise).
