Zombie games aren’t anything new. But when you think about it, The Last of Us isn’t really a zombie game.
In similar fashion to, say, The Walking Dead or I Am Legend, The Last of Us isn’t necessarily about zombies but instead focuses on the human interaction/s dealt with any remaining survivor/s. Unlike in Left 4 Dead, where the zombies are undoubtedly the star of the show, it’s the human characters, specifically Joel and his daughter Ellie, that take the spotlight in the latest Naughty Dog title. Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, the game’s creative director and game director respectively, have emphasized this fact.
So what exactly is all the fuss about then?
We have to keep in mind that this is Naughty Dog. We’ve seen what they’re capable of from the Uncharted series; they can create a blockbuster with a great story and intense action without compromising it for the “popcorn” crowd. So, naturally, expectations are pretty high for a brand new IP that hasn’t had an ounce of gameplay footage seen. Regardless, as we’ve seen with L.A. Noire, if the story being told is strong enough, the environment atmospheric enough, and your emotions tugged hard enough, gameplay doesn’t necessarily matter as long as the job gets done.
With less than a week to go before we see how everything will play out, it’s already safe to say that Sony has the PS3′s final blockbuster in The Last of Us, one strong enough to bring over newcomers to the console, regardless of how late in the PS3′s lifespan it may be.

He says the memory card can’t be used in any other than a Sony product and they are costly. Is he right? Should I just choose another camera brand? If so, any suggestions?

Its a game where you are a survivor after some sort of apocalypse and is very sandy, It doesn’t look very high budget so its not “The Last Of Us”. I remember they said I can barter with bandits to avoid conflict and I saw the main character climbing walls and so on.

Here’s my details: My husband and I married in Jan of this year (2009), we were both active duty at the time. He made E4 in May of this year; I finished my service the 19th of July and the detailer called him with ACCOMPANIED orders to Yokosuka Japan, command VFA-195 the last week of July. He finally received his transfer package 18SEP09 with only 6 working days to complete it and turn it in. They sent him orders as an E3 instead of E4 but he was told to complete it anyway and put in for an ORDMOD. Although they gave us no time, we finished everything and are only waiting the DEA to come back and for the ORDMOD to get approved. Now we’re hearing that it might not get approved–how can that be when they already gave him an accompanied tour?? when my husband negotiated with the detailer, he picked japan specifically for us being able to go together! We already gave notice on our apartment and have no friends or relatives to house me after he’s gone AND we have a dog, (but his stuff is already taken care of). PLEASE HELP!
to make matters worse, we got an email from his receiving command and they seem to not be concerned about it at all just told him to go over and worry about his wife later! also suggested he doesn’t take leave before he goes–and his orders are for 3 years! he hasn’t been able to take leave for the past 3 years to see his family already! they assigned us to a sponsor who will be out for seatrials right up until we are supposed to get there. i was excited but now, i don’t even want to go…(assuming i’m still going to be able to)

I have been reading over the many topics here on Arabic linguists in the military but I need advise on a specific situation. This will be a bit lengthy but I am about to make a major career decision and I really need help. Any and all comments are greatly appreciated.
I am a 27 year old American male (born in USA) and am currently a college student. My mother is originally from Casablanca, Morocco but her as well as her parents are US citizens. My father of course, is full blooded American. I am fully literate and fluent in English and Arabic (as well as multiple Arabic dialects) and I have international marketing experience.
My dream and goal is to join the US military as a cryptologic linguist and use my diverse background to serve my country and contribute to world peace and freedom. My plan is to enlist in the military for 4 or 6 years of service as active duty. After that, I am hoping to get a good job with the Government, a Government contractor or a US embassy. While I do so, I will pursue a Master’s degree with the ultimate intent to join the US AID or possible the UN.
Unfortunately, I made a huge mistake last year that I deeply regret. I was convicted for a DUI and served a weekend for it. It was a very immature mistake that I wish I could take back but what’s done is done. Initially, I wanted to join the Air Force but from what I can tell from reading answers on the subject, the AF would never grant me a waiver to get in.
Now here are my questions:
If I can pursue this plan, do you think it is a good plan that would benefit out nation?
Will my DUI issue hurt my chances of joining the military? Will it hurt my chances for getting a TS clearance? I know most Arabic Cryptological Linguist jobs require an active TS/SCI.
Assuming that there’s a chance I can attain one, where would I have my AIT training?
Does the DLI follow directly after AIT? And roughly how long will AIT and DLI be for me?
Upon successful completion of my training, where will the location be of my first duty station and for roughly how long?
How hard is it to earn college credits while on active duty?
By the time I will be able to enlist (next year due to my current supervised probation ordeal), I would have completed my Associates Degree. Does that mean I can go in as an E3?
When can I, or should I even become an officer for the type of career I mentioned above?
After Basic Training, can I keep my cell phone? Can I take it with me if I were to be deployed overseas?
How can this help me become a liaison?
Ultimately, is this the right step-by-step process to eventually enter a career that allows me to travel, works with FSOs, become an FSO, work at multiple embassies, the foreign service, liaison or even the UN?
I apologize for the long question and backstory. I needed to do so in order the answers my be specifically geared to my situation.

It seems that Microsoft is only caring for entertainment and family games these days now. I got my 360 2 years ago and i bought it for its exclusives like Halo, Gears of War, Forza and Fable. It seems thats all they have good. I keep hearing at E3, Kinect this, Kinect that, Apps this, Apps that. IM SICK OF IT!!. I mean its not a bad idea but i think its too much. I see what Sony got in store for PS3 owners like The Last of Us, Beyond, Two Souls, Uncharted, God of War, and Playstation All-stars Battle Royale. They are beating Xbox with exclusives and all you hear from them is “We get Call of Duty contented a month earlier than PS3″ No exclusive content or any of that. I said to myself that i will give Xbox 1 more year to get some more exclusives or im switching. Isn’t this why we buy our systems?? So anyway, should i trade it in?? When?? and Is it too late??

Okay now I need help choosing a career choice. I LIKE MONEY. Not to sound selfish… I plan to give back to the community if I ever make it.. but I can’t take a job that doesn’t make enough money. I was leaning towards something with business but I heard it’s terrible to major in it as an undergraduate alone? My physics teacher with a PhD told me to double major with something else like applied math,math, or a science like physics O_o. He also recommended financial engineering which I don’t understand. What do you guys think I should do? I don’t really care what it is as long as it makes money. If it’s a profession not involving business can you also suggest some books that will give me an advantage before I get out there in the real world? For business I already have Bill Gate’s, Warren Buffet’s and Andrew Carnegies books and Built to Last, Freakanomics, Good to Great, and Liar’s Poker.
I live in New York. South Asian descent. Parent’s don’t make too much money and probably need help for college in terms of money.
Was thinking of colleges like NYU Stern, Rice, BU, U of Miami, UCLA, UCB etc.

Personally The Last of us was the only title that got me excited. Everything else was the same old shit that hasn’t been released but you feel like you’ve already played it because it’s been done before. GTA 5 wasn’t there but that’s because Rockstar doesn’t have to sample their games because they never fail.

So here is what I think of the press conferences of E3 this year. First let me get Nintendo out of the way by saying YES, they did better than last year. It was good but not great, but its a casual gaming system with last generation graphics so we cant expect much from them but a bunch of kids games and laughable hard core games that dont ever make the cut. The new super mario bros was pretty cool though and the wii fit plus, action, and resort were pretty cool too and should appeal to anyone trying to lose weight. Now that thats out of the way lets get to the real rivalry Microsoft vs Sony. Since everyone is saying that this is the PS3′s year to shine because MS took the show last year I personally think it was kinda even with Microsoft having a little bit more of an edge when it came to the new technology aspects (Project Natal is awesome). They both showed excellent games and exclusives, but from a progression stand point, Sony basically did everything that MS did last year, at this years E3. So while everyone is going to bash the 360 I think the fact is that MS showed all their heavy hitters and blockbusters last year and have now MOVED ON, while Sony is just now showing (and delivering) their heavy hitters one year later. So technically their late and everyone has moved on to bigger and better things. I mean we have been waiting for God of War 3 forever (and still have to wait) so everyone already knew about it. Dont get me wrong it kicked sooo much you know what, but it wasnt a surprise. Neither was MAG which I think lets me know that Sony is sacrificing quality for quantity. The game has 256 online players at one time but the game looks like complete crap. Just like earlier this year Resistance 2 had all those online players but compared to other FPS it was mediocore at best (Im sure Im going to get hate mail for that). Uncharted looked great and had great action, but I cant help to think that the uncharted franchise is just a fake indiana jones. I also think they spent way too much time on the psp when they should just give up on that because once again they are shooting themselves in the foot. The DS dominates the portable gaming world for one, and two they are adding to much crap into one console that does waay to much. Now this doesnt mean that MS didnt have its flaws. The joyride game could have been kept or done a bit better and had more depth. it looks like a bunch of people will just be driving around, chatting, with no purpose. Also they could have used a few more exclusives instead of just sequels to everything they already have. Last the Hideo Kojima thing is a joke. Let me tell you my theory of what I think really happened. Kojima said he would NEVER port Metal Gear to any other console now all of a sudden he does (Kojima is usually a man of his word). I think MS begged him so much and threw so much money at him that he just broke down and said what the hey. Kojima had a trump card though. He gave us a side character, a second rate metal gear game, one that he is probably not going to oversee or produce (Im sure he got people to do his grunt work for side projects like this). Thus we got raiden. No Solid Snake (or counterparts), no overseeing, no wrinting script, no nothing. Since he knows how bad MS gamers want Metal Gear, he knows people are going to buy it because it has the metal gear name. Thus another cool MILLIONS in his pocket easily made by making FOOLS of us. I think its BS he should have given us snake instead of doing that BS psp crap. He could had made more by going multi platform. My last thoughts are the racing games are too simulated and not enough arcade, those types of racers suck the joy of racing out of the game (NFS SHift, Forza 3, GT 5). For the rest of the week I would love to see more on Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Heavy Rain (Sequel to Indigo Prophecy on the original xbox), and a few others. So what are your thoughts and comments?
Oh yeah one more thing. The new sony technology is nothing but the wii motion controller. It only reads the controller, NOT the whole body and able to create a real person (milo) like Natal.
Hey, I enlisted in the ARMY as a 88m and is waiting to be shipped out in a couple of months.Is it true that if you get 1 referral in the U.S. ARMY, you get advanced to E2 before basic? Cause I got one referral so far and is likely the only one ill get cause almost no here that I know wants to join and my reqruiter only told me that I need 2 ppl to get to E3. but my book says 1 referral=E2 …2ppl or more=E3..Im not asking this cause its for the money, Im asking cause I graduated highschool last year and because I got nothing with my life I decided to join the army to do my part in serving this country and I always had interests in this branch and I figured it would give me a boost if I jumped up an E or 2. Halo 4, was hardly anything, then all microsoft done was shove kinect down every ones throats.
I’ll face it I’m a xbox fanboy but PS3/Sony was by far the best, I might just buy a ps3 for the last of us.
And to me WiiU is just a silly gimmick and this is coming from a nintendo fan!!!

Hello, I’m currently an E3 that graduated from bootcamp no more than 2 weeks ago. As of right now, im sitting in my Ship at Naval station great lakes NTC finishing up indoc. Im classed as EOD right now but i’ve decided over a 3 week course thats not what i want to do anymore. I’ve talked to my Med rollback class leader and he knows im going to drop. I chose this because i simply want to live out my other dream someday of law enforcement (street patrol). The most closeley related job to that is Master at arms. Now, I do understand the whole military to civillian law enforcement crap and thats not what my question is about. I’ll be reclassing on tuesday and I want to know what my odds are of getting Master at arms or something like Seabee, etc. Last week, a EOD canidate who dropped told us MA was a open job. I do understand that the list changed every week also. But, if i cant reclass to MA and i go undesignated can i Strike for Master at arms instead? I just want to know my options. Please, if your not a reputable source dont awnser back. And i dont want to hear all the crap about MA to Civi cop. Thanks a bunch, guys!

I’m 16 and am underweight, cause I can never gain weight. I’m 5′ 11″ and 140 pounds.
It started with meeting up with my girl and I never got to eat dinner. We met up and pretty much spent the night having sex on and off, and i ended up with maybe e3 hours of sleep. The whole next day I went without eating til maybe 5pm, I tried soup but couldn’t hold it down. Tried again at 10, and managed a peanut butter sandwich, and t5 oddly addicting peices of plain bread. i couldnt sleep and proceeded to go over to a friends and chill on a cpld wet night outside, while shooting a led pellet gun all night. i manged to eat a slice of cold pizza and swallow down e3 cans of soda til 7am and went home to sleep off the 40 bug bites and sex scratch marks that almost look infected. i woke up at 11 and laid in bed all day and night into today. Extremly long to me. i felt so crappy. also, i havwnt managed to have a bowel movement since that first night. but i feel like i need to. yesterday I swallowed down a breakfast carnation shake. Followed by 2 more last night. I keep getting panic attacks and everytime I sit up, my heart races like crazy. It’s now 3 and I’m starving but everytime I do anything my face turns red and my chest gets tight. I feel like i got beat up and just got done running. I’m an insomniac too, but I feel rested. There’s a plate of bananas, blackberries, grapes, cherries, watermelon and some swiss keyed laxative my friend gave me. But im hesitant because I know my chest is tight and I’ve never taken a laxative before. I just want to be with my girl.
My chest feels like I just got done running. Oh, and I had a spider bight before all thos that left me with a puffy eyebrow. But it disapeared and i live in Vermont, next to New York, in the US. Now that thats out of the way lets get to the real rivalry Microsoft vs Sony. Since everyone is saying that this is the PS3′s year to shine because MS took the show last year I personally think it was kinda even with Microsoft having a little bit more of an edge when it came to the new technology aspects (Project Natal is awesome). They both showed excellent games and exclusives, but from a progression stand point, Sony basically did everything that MS did last year, at this years E3. So while everyone is going to bash the 360 I think the fact is that MS showed all their heavy hitters and blockbusters last year and have now MOVED ON, while Sony is just now showing (and delivering) their heavy hitters one year later. So technically their late and everyone has moved on to bigger and better things. I mean we have been waiting for God of War 3 forever (and still have to wait) so everyone already knew about it. Dont get me wrong it kicked sooo much a**, but it wasnt a surprise. Neither was MAG which I think lets me know that Sony is sacrificing quality for quantity. The game has 256 online players at one time but the game looks like complete crap. Just like earlier this year Resistance 2 had all those online players but compared to other FPS it was mediocore at best (Im sure Im going to get hate mail for that). Uncharted looked great and had great action, but I cant help to think that the uncharted franchise is just a fake indiana jones. I also think they spent way too much time on the psp when they should just give up on that because once again they are shooting themselves in the foot. The DS dominates the portable gaming world for one, and two they are adding to much crap into one console that does waay to much. Now this doesnt mean that MS didnt have its flaws. The joyride game could have been kept or done a bit better and had more depth. it looks like a bunch of people will just be driving around, chatting, with no purpose. Also they could have used a few more exclusives instead of just sequels to everything they already have. Last the Hideo Kojima thing is a joke. Let me tell you my theory of what I think really happened. Kojima said he would NEVER port Metal Gear to any other console now all of a sudden he does (Kojima is usually a man of his word). I think MS begged him so much and threw so much money at him that he just broke down and said what the he**. Kojima had a trump card though. He gave us a side character, a second rate metal gear game, one that he is probably not going to oversee or produce (Im sure he got people to do his grunt work for side projects like this). Thus we got raiden. No Solid Snake (or counterparts), no overseeing, no wrinting script, no nothing. Since he knows how bad MS gamers want Metal Gear, he knows people are going to buy it because it has the metal gear name. Thus another cool MILLIONS in his pocket easily made by making FOOLS of us. I think its BS he should have given us snake instead of doing that BS psp crap. He could had made more by going multi platform. My last thoughts are the racing games are too simulated and not enough arcade, those types of racers suck the joy of racing out of the game (NFS SHift, Forza 3, GT 5). For the rest of the week I would love to see more on Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Heavy Rain (Sequel to Indigo Prophecy on the original xbox), and a few others. So what are your thoughts and comments?
Oh yeah one more thing. The new sony technology is nothing but the wii motion controller. It only reads the controller, NOT the whole body and able to create a real person (milo) like Natal.
