In-Game Advertising Could Interrupt Your Gaming Pleasure

We’ve all been a victim to in- advertising at some point on our lives. Be it a simple billboard in Forza or an in your face product placement, we’ve all be there.

Some are able to recall the product while most tend to ignore it completely, if possible. The in-game advertising industry is planning to grow into the billions by 2014 and might be giving them a huge boost.

Back in 2011, Sony filed for a patent, seen here, titled “Advertisement Scheme for use with interactive content”. What this means is that while deep in a story/action of your newest $60 purchase, a warning will pop up telling you that a commercial will be aired momentarily. That’s right, in an age of TV recorders where we fast forward TV ads, they’ve found a way to throw in a commercial while playing a game. Imagine doing your thing in Grand Theft Auto V only to be irrupted by a fabric softener commercial.

This “scheme” as they call it might not even come into fruition, but the mere fact that its there and being talked about is enough to raise alarm.

    I’ve borrowed a Sony Handycam and I need to transfer the video files to my computer for editing. This isn’t my camera, so all I have is a USB cable. I’ve tried plugging it into the camera and computer and turning the camera on. The computer doesn’t recognize the software. :( What do I need to do to get the files onto my computer?

    As of right now Sony only has the 40GB PS3 on the market. Is Sony planning to make a new model that is backwards complatible with PS2 or are there no plans for that in the future?

    I use to have a sony ericsson when i with AT&T but now i have verizon and i cant find any sony ericsson besides the Xperia Play.. and that just doesn’t look like a phone id like.

    I want to download sony vagas. But when I tried to do it it put a virus on my laptop. I used to use Windows Movie Maker, but that’s crap now. Can someone please tell me how to download the full version of sony vagas pro 9 32 bit without getting a virus on my laptop again?

    I have a Sony W230 camera, which worked perfectly fine for a few weeks but recently has started to malfunction by zooming in when I turn on the camera. When I want to use the camera I have to stand at a long distance from the subject.

    I thought I could remove the advertisement screen with a click before, but now it seems I can’t. I like yahoo but having to scroll to the side to the read the end of each line is so annoying. I’m thinking of switching to a different email. Is there anyway to get rid of that besides going back to yahoo classic?

    Many companies are advertised on the net through Video files which is appeared while browsing. When I try to download, i cannot do that. Even I try to save the file from the browser, it simply stored as html files. Insteady i extract the advertisement from the webpage and store it as a separate video file.
