The Colossals Arise in DEBRIS

DEBRIS is an entirely mini-series coming from and Shadowline. In a dystopian future, the Earth has gone on the offense against the humans as ancient spirits called the Colossals.

These Colossals take physical forms from debris to declare war against the destructive species, meaning the humans.

The story follows Maya, a warrior proclaimed champion of humankind, as she sets out to find the last source of pure water. Having of course to fight Colossals along the way so that she can save her fellow humans.

DEBRIS was created by Kurtis J. Wiebe (Peter Panzerfaust, Grim Leaper) and Riley Rossmo (Rebel Blood, Cowboy Ninja Viking). ”I’m very fond of Scandinavian and European folklore, so I injected a lot of those concepts into the monsters that will appear throughout the series,” Wiebe told Comic Book Resources in an April 25th interview. “It’s also very influenced by Native American (Canadian) mythology and even a touch of Mayan for some of the creatures. I like the idea that all these ancient monsters were once part of our world and have returned to end us when we are at our weakest.”

With a look inspired by video like , DEBRIS boasts extraordinary creature design by Rossmo and vivid colors by Owen Gieni (Avengelyne) that set the apart from many other post-apocalyptic visions of Earth.

You can expect the first issue of DEBRIS out on shelves this July 25th. It is also up for preorder right now from the May issue of PREVIEWS using the code MAY120516.

  1. Who is the most powerful hero?
Is it Invincible? Savage Dragon? or Spawn?
For a while I thought it was Invincible, but I’m beginning to doubt that.

Characters outside of earth (Omni-man, Allen the Alien) don’t count. As well as deities (God, Satan and a bunch of characters from Spawn).

  2. Read both trades and want to get this on my pull/subscription list, I just dont know how far off from the second trade in the story I would end up.

    Thanks all !

    To kill a Mocking Bird?

    Chapter 8-11
    1. What does Atticus criticize Jem for?
    2. Why does Atticus wake the children in the middle of the night?
    3. What is Miss Maudie’s reaction to the loss of her house?
    4. According to Atticus, Boo Radley placed the blanket on Scout’s shoulders. Recall the “crimes” the townspeople have attributed to Boo. How do you explain the disparity between Boo’s act of kindness toward Scout and the stories of the townspeople?
    5. Why does Scout forget what Atticus told her about fighting?
    6. What does Atticus tell Scout to do when she hears “ugly talk” at school?
    7. What comparison does Scout use to describe her relationship with her Aunt Alexandra?
    8. Why does Scout fight Francis?
    9. What does Atticus tell Jack he hopes Jem and Scout will do instead of listening to the town?
    10. Atticus tells Scout to try fighting with her head for a change instead of using her fists. Comment on this advice both with regard to Scout, yourself and others. Why in your opinion, do people resort to physical violence to settle disagreements?
    11. Atticus tells Jack he hopes his children get through Tom Robinson’s trial without bitterness and without “catching Maycomb’s disease.” What is Atticus referring to? What is Maycomb’s disease?
    12. Explain why Scott is upset over Atticus being “so old.”
    13. Atticus tells the children they’re not to kill mockingbirds because doing so is a sin. How does Miss. Maudie explain Atticus’ reasoning to Scout?
    14. What explanation does Miss Maudie offer for “Ol’ One-Shot” (Atticus) putting his gun down thirty years ago?
    15. In this chapter (10) , it is explained that it is a sin to kill a mockingbird because they don’t do anything harmful; they simply sing their hearts out. Comment on this idea. Although it is expressed simply, is there more to this statement than simply the idea that harmless creatures shouldn’t be killed? How do you think the statement might apply to the novel thus far? Discuss.
    16. What does Jem do to Mrs. Dubose’s camellia bushes? Explain why he does this.
    17. How does Atticus explain the term “******-lover” to Scout?
    18. What change had occurred in Mrs. Dubose by the last week Scout and Jem went to her home?
    19. How does Atticus explain “courage” to Jem?
    20. Scout says that she considered her father the bravest man alive for visiting Mrs. Dubose and speaking kindly to her. Atticus later tells the children, after her death, that Mrs. Dubose was the “bravest person” he ever knew. Comment on the two views of bravery presented here. What is your definition of the term?

  4. I need to find a good book for an ISU where we need to compare 2 books.
My first book is a non-fiction book Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, and I am looking for a good book to compare it to.

  5. Where should I start if I want to write comics? What books to buy or what courses/workshops to take? Is it very hard to break into the industry? What if, for instance, I’m thinking to start with such publishers as Image Comics? How much do writers usually make per issue? If they just start? Or, if they’re pros already? I just needs a few ideas and some advice in understanding if it’s for me and how should start)))
    Thank you!

  6. Do you have any suggestions? There are a lot of screens in medical billing software and I would like to buy a book that shows me what to do with every one of them. Should I buy a book that tells how to use a specific kind of medical billing software like Medical Manager or are there books available that tell what to enter into each screen of any kind of medical billing software. Most programs like Medical Mastermind and Medical Manager are similar.

I am doing a school assignment and I need to find out how many textbooks are sold online. Not just media or normal books, but only online text book sales.

  8. Knocked these up after a few late nights, hope you like:

A lot of people won’t get the joke of the 3rd one, but anyway.

What’s your opinion on the art style I’ve created by being a crap illustrator and finding work arounds? Or the humour? Any constructive criticism, shoot. 10pts for best.
Bugger, I just noticed the typo in the last one.

It should be the “Incredible Shrinking Man”, not the “Invisible Shrinking Man.”

See, now I’ve ruined the punchline.

  9. I have been playing drums for about a year now and I fall into the half way between easy and intermediate. I need a book to help me with drumming skills and reading drum music. I have done Absolute Beginners Books 1&2 by Dave Zubraski but there is no part 3 in the series but I need a follow up book to that with a CD what would you recommend?

  10. I plan to learn Spanish, all by myself, and I am looking for books suitable for that. Of course I will try to use multimedia such as TV and newspapers to practice, but I need a book that will present Spanish (and that assumes I am not at all familiar with the language) in a systematic way, with a lot of examples and practice. I would prefer also a book with a lot of vocab word lists and grammar rules.

    Thank You :)
