Bulletstorm Will Not Be Getting A Sequel Any Time Soon

by Chris CalasahanApril 10, 2012

Last year’s 1st-person by & People Can Fly, , filled with bad language and chaos does not seem like it will be receiving a second installment anywhere in the near future.  Epic Games’ Mike Capps had discussed this disappointing news with GameSpot at PAX East this past weekend.
We thought a lot about a sequel, and had done some initial development on it, but we found a project that we thought was a better fit for People Can Fly.  We haven’t announced that yet, but we will be announcing it pretty soon.
So while, this isn’t officially written in stone, but People Can Fly are already working on an unnamed project.  Capps adds that Epic Games would consider giving some thought about making a second Bulletstorm title in the future.

Mike Capps went on to discuss weak sales & piracy of the PC port of this title played a major role in Epic Games deciding in not going forward with the sequel.  It performed well among most critics but didn’t seem to deliver a great enough experience for the majority of gamers as it didn’t sell the way Epic Games had hoped.

This is disappointing news as I personally found Bulletstorm to be an enjoyable title.  While the dialogue was foul mouthed and immature at times throughout the campaign, and the story was also a tad bit predictable at some points, it was still an action filled, chaotic shooter that had a very interesting concept with it’s skill shot system.  With a very arcade-like high score approach to the levels it gave this 1st person shooter a unique way to entertain players.

Does this disappoint you?  Would you liked to have seen a sequel or is the franchise better off dead?
