After a cumulative 19,650,000 votes over the whole vote, and 651,811 votes in the final vote…The Madden 13 cover vote has concluded and the new cover star has been decided.

Megatron is eagerly catching this honor, as they announced it today on ESPN's Sportsnation.
Detroit Lion’s stud receiver, Calvin Johnson, was the final winner chosen by a 52% to 48% margin. He narrowly beat out Carolina Panther’s quarterback, Cam Newton.
Johnson was very eager to receive this honor as he is aware of some of the NFL greats that have graced the cover.
[pullquote_right]“Man, it’s great, just to see yourself on this Madden (cover) and seeing all the guys that have been on Madden? C’mon, man.” -Calvin Johson [/pullquote_right]
Megatron just dropped a historic season last year as he was the 3rd wide receiver to have a season that totaled at least 1,600 receiving yards & 15 touchdowns, joining Jerry Rice & Randy Moss. He also just signed a massive 8 year, 132 million dollar contract with the Detroit Lions.
The next question is about the dreaded Madden Curse which took it’s latest victim in Madden 12‘s cover vote winner, Cleveland Browns running back, Peyton Hillis, who was hampered by injuries, rumored teammate chemistry problems, contract disputes with his former team (he just signed with the Kansas City Chiefs), and was only able to muster a weak 587 yards on the season. Will last the Madden Curse take another victim? Time will tell when football starts next season, as for right now Megatron can enjoy the attention that will come with being on the cover of one the most popular sports titles.

Im sure you had fun writing this article eh?
My small cousin is going to and he is going nuts about anticipation for it. I just want him to relaxed down a little. So is there a (or likely to be) a leader class megatron?
I individually would be surprised if he could match Jerry Rice’s rookie year of about 900 yards and 5 TDs. The transformed DB Furrey caught about one hundred passes final yr and Roy Williams is a leading 20 WR.
What specifically are you expecting Calvin Johnson to do that you just take him so early in the draft?
I’d individually instead go with a large upside #1 WR these kinds of as Mark Clayton or Braylon Edwards in the 8th round and invest the 6th rounder on some thing other than a WR (if there is a very good RB left, I’d almost certainly go that route or I may well go for one of the leading tier QBs if they are left or for 1 of the top TEs).
I play highschool football and take some pretty big hits to the head and wanted to know how much damage it does. Im a middle linebacker for my highschool football team and have yet to meet another player like me. i always go full speed head to head. i have had some pretty big collisions and i have had neck problems for over a year now because of it…. i dont want to damage brain cells i cant get back so i wanna know if its a serious problem or if im just paranoid. i only have a year left then college football if i decide but i may just stop if it will permanetely damage me
well i know proper mechanics but to be a starter anywhere you have to impress the caoshes and be very explosive. ecspecially at my school which is the biggest class in the state. they encourage my hitting but im not going to risk my health in the future to impress my coachs
The Colts only have one good player in Manning and same for the Lions with Calvin Johnson.
Calvin Johnson is very underrated and hes so tall and he can make any catch thats thrown to him, hes really tall and has a high verticle, will he end up being one of the best recievers in the NFL and why?
I’ve been hearing a lot about this “Calvin Johnson” rule in the NFL after Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham caught a TD pass, but was ruled an Incomplete pass, which is absolute BS!!! But what exactly IS the rule? What does it say?
Im in a yahoo league, I have 3 WR spots and 5 WR to play. Im def going to play kenny britt, and brandon lloyd for my 1 and 2, so that leaves austin collie marques colston and calvin johnson. Need some help please. thank you
They project about the same. Calvin Johnson is more of a big play guy, but Donald Driver is consistent. Who would you start for fantasy?
I think Calvin Johnson is better because he is about to break all of herman moores records
In fantasy football, i’m thinking about doing this trade. I have Matt Forte, and i’m thinking about trading him for Calvin Johnson. I have pretty good receivers and running backs, so I don’t necessarily need one position more than the other. Matt Forte’s inconsistency really bugs me, and even though Calvin Johnson has put up less fantasy points this year, I feel like he’s more of a sure thing to get the job done each and every week. Is this a good trade for me in your opinion?
The guys is a stud. Calvin Johnson is playing on THE worst team in the NFL, yet week in and week out he is posting top 5 WR numbers. He is impossible to cover 1on1 or even double teamed. Every time double cover the guy and he still manages to catch tons of yards and TDs. If he plays for Peyton Manning or any other good QBs, he would have way better number than other WRs in the NFL. He deserves a Pro-Bowl selection this year.
It’s championship time? I have 2 WR slots and 3 viable options:
Calvin Johnson vs the poor pass defense of New Orleans.
Kevin Walter vs Oakland. Walter is tied for the lead in the AFC for TD receptions. Asomugha will likely cover Andre Johnson so you have to like Walter’s chances.
Marques Colston who is finally coming alive and plays the terrible Lions.
Thanks for your help!
No WR has ever won the season MVP but I feel that Calvin Johnson should at least be in the discussion for it. Aaron Rodgers and Brady are putting up monster stats but Calvin Johnson’s improvement is the main reason why Detroit is doing well. Also consider that when Moss set the regular season record he played with Brady who at worst was the 2nd best QB in the league. Stafford while decent is not a top 4 QB. Brees, Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Ben Roethlisberger are much better QBS than Stafford.
