PAX East – Quantum Conundrum Is The Next Gem From The Creator Of Portal

I’ll be honest: I had no idea what to expect from . I saw it on the show floor and thought “Oh, that looks…cute.”

Then I got some hands on time with the title in the privacy of the  hotel room for press and I thought, “Oh, this is cute…and challenging…and fun.”

Comparisons between Portal and Quantum Conundrum are going to be unavoidable. Both are first person games that involve manipulating reality around you, both come from the Kim Swift, and both feature voice over from a higher power that people will undoubtedly find humorous. That’s about where the comparisons will end. See, developer Airtight Games is trying to make the game appeal to a broader audience, promising puzzle challenges for players of all experience levels, complete with bright and fun, yes fun, visuals that are designed to draw the eye in.

quantum conundrum 03 600x337 PAX East Quantum Conundrum Is The Next Gem From The Creator Of Portal

Players will solve puzzles by manipulating dimensions around them. In the demo, you’re able to swap between the heavy world, the normal world, and the fluffy world. In a nutshell, to help solve puzzles you can make the weight of objects far lighter or far heavier. We did get a brief display of another dimension, slow motion, and the game promises yet another. But unlike in Portal, you’ll have to sometimes solve a quick puzzle to be able to swap dimensions. Your character carries him a glove that allows the swapping of dimensions, but occasionally you’ll need to put batteries into a switch that powers said glove. In a sense, this is solving a puzzle to be able to solve the puzzle, adding another layer of exploration and depth to the game.

The puzzles offered in the demo ranged from fairly simple to challenging and tricky. Veterans of the genre will no doubt feel quite comfortable solving some of the easier conundrums, but there’ll be times where trial and error will be necessary, especially when first dealing with a new dimension. I had watched several players progress manipulating fluffy and heavy, but when I got to slow-motion, something I hadn’t seen before, I was thrown for a bit of a loop.

Quantum Conundrum will be a downloadable game and offers 50 stages of puzzle solving, resulting in approximately 6 hours or so of gameplay, which is plenty of bang for your buck when it comes out this Summer for XBLA, PSN, and PC

  1. I not too long ago study an write-up declaring that all men and women who purchased a new copy of Mass Effect 2 received a free of charge Cerberus Network code in the case, which unlocks two characters. Was the code only available when the game just arrived out (while it was nonetheless $60)? I didn’t get any code. Then again, I purchased the game when it was about $30. I was in the hospital when the sport released. So was I as well late?

    Also, is it well worth it to buy this Cerberus code now? I previously pre-ordered Mass Result 3, and it will arrive up coming week. Is the code important sufficient for me to purchase the code? I was conserving the 1200MSP to buy either I Am Alive or Quantum Conundrum (both XBLA games).

  2. How is it that, you deny god , with no pinpointing a certain god or faith , when you do not have the answers to this kind of incredible paradox, this kind of as a unified / non-diverse / non-multiverse nonexistence.

    Let us contemplate counter intuitive aspects of relativistic phenomena that have been re-evaluated as the classical restrict of quantum mechanics when used to the well-known model of the quantum harmonic oscillator as it employs an explicitly non-relativistic expression for the kinetic electricity of the oscillator to develop a unified field. Even thinking about quantum electromagnetism used to the unified area it is speculated that it may be probable to merge gravity with the other three gauge symmetries to develop alternate aircraft existence in a multiverse…

    This is not achieved by introducing some new axiom to quantum mechanics for multiverse, but on the contrary, by taking away the axiom of the collapse of the wave packet: All the probable steady states of the measured method and the measuring apparatus for “Exact and Opposite” living.

    And what the above in fact says : ” With infinite fields of existence, in a multiverse , god exists merely simply because somebody somewhere when stated he does not” . As this conundrum paradox states, inside a multiverse, all prospects exist.
    You fall short to see the simplicity of the above statement, god , was produced by the human thoughts right here inside of our simple of existance and as such, he exists. just due to the fact we produced him. If we did not generate him ,he would not exist, but right here we are talking about him.

    If you say he exists and other individuals hear you, it is now so. The infinite paradox of multiverse creation states that all opportunities are open.

  3. There Is Certainly this new game referred to as Quantum Conundrum which is made by the same people who produced portal. It seems to be AMAZING! In Addition To that anything at all else?

  5. My opponent played a Domestication on my Blighted Agent. Now my opponent controls said creature. Would I be able to cast a Corrupted Conscience back onto my Blighted Agent, thus giving control back to me? Or, since my opponent already has an enchantment that says “you control enchanted creature,” would I be unable to cast the Corrupted Conscience since it would create a sort of quantum conundrum?

  6. There is a glitch in the level Mind The Gap. When i get up to the second level and go to spring across the gap, i hit an invisible wall. tried it tons of times and all different ways, get get across.

  9. I know that the Lite is smaller than the original DS, I think the DSi can access the internet (Wi-Fi) and that the 3DS is well, 3D. I’m looking at getting a used 3DS for PAX East next month (I currently have a DS Lite) but I want to make sure it’s worth it. Can the 3DS play all the regular DS games? Can it ‘do’ internet (I’d hope so)?

    Any opinions or info (of a helpful nature) would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  10. Here’s what we know so far: The 10th season will continue the half machinima/half animation story line, but will focus more on the animated story. The animated story will wrap up the Freelancer story and also will explain why CT left the Freelancers and how Maine became the Meta. In the preview at PAX East 2012, Maine’s first AI, Sigma, is seen, and he will be voiced by Elijah Wood. A number of Insurrection members from season 9 will return, and the Freelancers will be using more equipment and weapons (such as Wash using armor lock, North tossing the bubble shield pod to contain a group of snipers, and Carolina using plasma rifles). The machinima side will pick up after the end of season 9 and continue the story of the Blood Gulch crew and Carolina.

    I’m assuming that the animated story will set up key events in the machinima story, and everything in the machinima story will set up an awesome story for the season after season 10, maybe even farther.

    What are you expecting this season?

  11. I read that, according to QM theory, nothing exists until a conscious mind witnesses it. How can any life (or anything else) on Earth have existed prior to human consciousness arising, if this is true? I’m a bit confused regarding this little conundrum.

    ERETZ-ISRAEL was the birthplace of the Jewish people. After being forcibly exiled from their land, the people kept faith with it throughout their Dispersion and never ceased to pray and hope for their return to it and for the restoration in it of their political freedom.
    In the year 5657 (1897), at the summons of the spiritual father of the Jewish State, Theodore Herzl, the First Zionist Congress convened and proclaimed the right of the Jewish people to national rebirth in its own country.
    This right was recognized in the Balfour Declaration of the 2nd November, 1917, and re-affirmed in the Mandate of the League of Nations … The catastrophe which recently befell the Jewish people – the massacre of millions of Jews in Europe – was another clear demonstration of the urgency of solving the problem of its homelessness by re-establishing in Eretz-Israel the Jewish State…
    Accordingly we hereby declare the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel.
    THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
    THE STATE OF ISRAEL is prepared to cooperate with the agencies and representatives of the United Nations in implementing the resolution of the General Assembly of the 29th November, 1947, and will take steps to bring about the economic union of the whole of Eretz-Israel.
    WE EXTEND our hand to all neighbouring states and their peoples in an offer of peace and good neighbourliness, and appeal to them to establish bonds of cooperation and mutual help with the sovereign Jewish people settled in its own land. The State of Israel is prepared to do its share in a common effort for the advancement of the entire Middle East.
    Extracts from the Declaration of the State of Israel, May 14th 1948

    Source K
    The state of Israel came into being because, in the end, two of the Great Powers, Russia and the United States, for conflicting reasons, strategic and domestic, thought that it would be in their interests. Britain, concerned to maintain its paramountcy in the Middle East, opposed the move. British morale was eroded by a combination of Zionist terrorism, and a feeling that an American President dictated a policy in the interests of Zionism and his re-election, that led to the deaths of British troops. In any case this was the period of the twilight on the British Empire and the replacement of the Pax Britannica with the Pax Americana. After May 15th 1948 the situation in the Middle East was not determined just by Great Power politics, but by a local fights for possession of land. Britain’s imperial position there, established between 1917-23, was eroded.
    Richard Ovendale, the Origins of the Arab-Israeli Wars, 2004
    Source C
    The Irgun, under Menachim Begin, then decided to blow up the King David Hotel in Jerusalem…Haganah assented initially, but they later withdrew support following an appeal by Chaim Weizmann…Begin then undertook the operation on his own and scheduled it for the middle of the working day. The resulting explosion, on July 22nd, killed 91 British, Jewish and Arab personnel and wounded dozens more…the logic of Zionist terrorism was bearing fruit. That is, the Lehi and Irgun preferred to kill British soldiers rather than officers in order to bring home to the British public at large the cost of maintaining a hold on Palestine.

    What do you think of these sources??

  16. 1) African Muslims and their Arab allies, known as Moors, created a brilliant civilization and vast empire during the Middle Ages. The Moorish empire covered parts of Europe, including Spain, Portugal, Sicily and Crete. The Moors ruled in Europe and contributed to its renaissance. Al Andalus, Muslim Spain, became the guiding light of the medieval era.

    2) Ancient Moors (before the Muslim area) of Mauritania (North Western Africa) joined Roman legions during the Pax Romana and established cities and towns across Europe.

    3) Dark skinned Africans were known as Moors even before the Roman Empire. They established communities and towns across Southern and Western Europe. They lived in other places in many capacities

    4) Before European colonization in Africa, Arabs preceded Europeans as far as Central Africa (Congo) and Southern Africa (Dar salaamm). They converted millions of Africans to Islam. Arabs founded cities and towns. They even contributed to the creation of a creole culture, known as Swahili culture.

    5) Arabs founded a vast empire as far as Central and South East Asia. Their presence is evidenced by the number of Muslims in remote regions of Asia;

    6) Arabs were great navigators; they explored distant lands and traveled across oceans and seas. There is evidence that Arab preceded Europeans in America and Australia. West African Muslims were in trade relations with Native Americans from Central and South America. They even established colonies and towns. Their legacy is felt in the numerous places names and surnames with African or Arab roots (Mandinga, Sierre de Mali etc.).

    7) Africans founded kingdoms, empires and civilizations without European influence. Some African kingdoms had embassies in Europe (Kingdom of Kongo had embassies in Holland, Rome and Portugal). There were African bishops from the Kingdom of Kongo in Europe.

    8) There were prominent Africans in ancient and medieval Europe. Some of them were Roman Emperors, saints and Popes.

    I would like to know if the suppression of African, Moorish or Islamic presence or influence is like to the following factors

    1) the Crusades where Christian Kings become Muslims bitter enemies;

    2) A revenge against the Moors after their defeat in 1492;

    3) A revenge over the Arab and Barbary Slave trade;

    4) Imperialist motivation (replacement of Arab imperialism with European imperialism)

    5) Religious proselytism (increase the number of Christians and decrease the number of Muslims)

    6) Propaganda in order to justify European colonialism and imperialism and the White Supremacy Myth.

    7) Propaganda in order to hide the influence and presence of dark skinned Africans who went from Noble Maures to Stupid Negroes during the Transatlantic Slave Trade and colonization of Africa.

  17. It started out being just while playing Quantum Conundrum, but now it seems to be very game… If i am playing a game in fullscreen, if i quit the game via the in-game menus or if i alt+tab/Windows-key out of the game, my computer flashes to a black screen like expected, but then never gets past that. it sits at that blank black screen doing nothing. Any audio that may have been going on in the background from a browser or music player freezes as well, so it is indeed and actual system hang. i tried to google it but i wasnt sure what to search for exactly so i didnt find anything of any help
    defragged, updated all drivers, ran virus scans, checked registry, etc. its not specific with any 1 game or any handful of games. it seems to happen with EVERY game that runs in fullscreen

  19. The next American president will inherit many foreign policy challenges, but surely one of the biggest will be the cold war. Yes, the next president is going to be a cold-war president — but this cold war is with Iran.

    That is the real umbrella story in the Middle East today — the struggle for influence across the region, with America and its Sunni Arab allies (and Israel) versus Iran, Syria and their non-state allies, Hamas and Hezbollah. As the May 11 editorial in the Iranian daily Kayhan put it, “In the power struggle in the Middle East, there are only two sides: Iran and the U.S.”

    For now, Team America is losing on just about every front. How come? The short answer is that Iran is smart and ruthless, America is dumb and weak, and the Sunni Arab world is feckless and divided. Any other questions?

    The outrage of the week is the Iranian-Syrian-Hezbollah attempt to take over Lebanon. Hezbollah thugs pushed into Sunni neighborhoods in West Beirut, focusing particular attention on crushing progressive news outlets like Future TV, so Hezbollah’s propaganda machine could dominate the airwaves. The Shiite militia Hezbollah emerged supposedly to protect Lebanon from Israel. Having done that, it has now turned around and sold Lebanon to Syria and Iran.

    All of this is part of what Ehud Yaari, one of Israel’s best Middle East watchers, calls “Pax Iranica.” In his April 28 column in The Jerusalem Report, Mr. Yaari pointed out the web of influence that Iran has built around the Middle East — from the sway it has over Iraq’s prime minister, Nuri al-Maliki, to its ability to manipulate virtually all the Shiite militias in Iraq, to its building up of Hezbollah into a force — with 40,000 rockets — that can control Lebanon and threaten Israel should it think of striking Tehran, to its ability to strengthen Hamas in Gaza and block any U.S.-sponsored Israeli-Palestinian peace.

    “Simply put,” noted Mr. Yaari, “Tehran has created a situation in which anyone who wants to attack its atomic facilities will have to take into account that this will lead to bitter fighting” on the Lebanese, Palestinian, Iraqi and Persian Gulf fronts. That is a sophisticated strategy of deterrence.

    The Bush team, by contrast, in eight years has managed to put America in the unique position in the Middle East where it is “not liked, not feared and not respected,” writes Aaron David Miller, a former Mideast negotiator under both Republican and Democratic administrations, in his provocative new book on the peace process, titled “The Much Too Promised Land.”

    “We stumbled for eight years under Bill Clinton over how to make peace in the Middle East, and then we stumbled for eight years under George Bush over how to make war there,” said Mr. Miller, and the result is “an America that is trapped in a region which it cannot fix and it cannot abandon.”

    Look at the last few months, he said: President Bush went to the Middle East in January, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice went in February, Vice President **** Cheney went in March, the secretary of state went again in April, and the president is there again this week. After all that, oil prices are as high as ever and peace prospects as low as ever. As Mr. Miller puts it, America right now “cannot defeat, co-opt or contain” any of the key players in the region.

    The big debate between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton is over whether or not we should talk to Iran. Obama is in favor; Clinton has been against. Alas, the right question for the next president isn’t whether we talk or don’t talk. It’s whether we have leverage or don’t have leverage.

    When you have leverage, talk. When you don’t have leverage, get some — by creating economic, diplomatic or military incentives and pressures that the other side finds too tempting or frightening to ignore. That is where the Bush team has been so incompetent vis-à-vis Iran.

    The only weaker party is the Sunni Arab world, which is either so drunk on oil it thinks it can buy its way out of any Iranian challenge or is so divided it can’t make a fist to protect its own interests — or both.

    We’re not going to war with Iran, nor should we. But it is sad to see America and its Arab friends so weak they can’t prevent one of the last corners of decency, pluralism and openness in the Arab world from being snuffed out by Iran and Syria. The only thing that gives me succor is the knowledge that anyone who has ever tried to dominate Lebanon alone — Maronites, Palestinians, Syrians, Israelis — has triggered a backlash and failed.

    “Lebanon is not a place anyone can control without a consensus, without bringing everybody in,” said the Lebanese columnist Michael Young. “Lebanon has been a graveyard for people with grand projects.” In the Middle East, he added, your enemies always seem to “find a way of joining together and suddenly making things very difficult for you.”
