I had no idea what to expect when I walked up tot he Aliens: Colonial Marines booth. Here was this big bunker type building, Randy Pitchford, Gearbox Software‘s CEO was all smiles outside. Our developer who narrated our playthrough mentioned what a dream it was to work on this project.
It started out nicely; sure the visuals looked like a crisper Duke Nukem Forever, but there was a great sense of atmosphere involved. There was no HUD, you had to track enemy movement with a motion tracker. When said motion tracker was active, you couldn’t fire. The opening moments screamed classic Aliens, from the 20th Century Fox opening before the demo to the referencing to the fact that the game is, in fact, a true sequel to classic films.
But something happened when the gameplay began: it was simply…generic. Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty tense watching a xenomorph leap onto our hero, but after that moment, the demo consisted of shooting crawling aliens before they even got close to you. Maybe the game was played on the easiest difficulty, maybe the AI isn’t tweaked enough from the demo build we saw. But the single player, while it may have a story Aliens fans will love, one written by Battlestar Galactica writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle, and especially if Ridley Scott is indeed involved somehow, the gameplay seems uninspired, at best.
Then something else happened: we tried the multiplayer. After an intense marines vs xenomorphs battle that left my heart pounding and hands shaking, I forget everything I hated about the singleplayer demo. If Gearbox Software can harness the potential here, nevermind finding a way to make enemy AI in the campaign act smarter with their plans of attacks, then console owners may be topping the Xbox Live and PSN most played charts with a newcomer.
There’s nothing special about the actual multiplayer, per say, as it is merely your standard run-of-the-mill deathmatch. But not knowing what dangers lie in the shadows as the enemy jumps from the ceiling and rips your skin apart while another digs his claws into the back of your buddy who was covering you can be pretty addicting. While we, sadly, only got to play the marines during out hands-on time, we can only imagine how much fun playing the aliens can be. Here’s to hoping that each session has both teams playing one side a piece to help prevent players from rage quitting if they’re not aliens.
While there’s no specific release date for Aliens: Colonial Marines, we do know that it is due out this fall for Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and even Wii U. Until then, I can’t wait for more multiplayer details.

I want to be able to blend 2 audio streams and document them. One Particular of them is my guitar and the other is a backing track. I acquired Line 6 GearBox but it does not come with software that records. I exchanged it for Lexicon Commun which comes with Cubase LE4 that expires in 30 days. I was by no means able to get it to file the 2 tracks, only the guitar. Its heading again tomorrow. Any suggestions?

If we assume that exrtaterrestrials are here on Earth, how can civilian scientists, professors, or the general public go about studying them? I would love to know more about alien society, alien biology, and extraterrestrial science/technology but I do not have an alien being who will talk to me, nor do I have a dead alien body, nor do I have any alien technology to examine. Some people believe that the government has bodies and spaceships but even if they do, the military is not likely to permit civilian scientists to examine them or let the public come and see them.
So what can a professor/scientist/researcher do to learn more about these aliens? Even if many people are convinced that extraterrestials are here, so what! It seems that we can never learn more about them in order to improve our society, our science, or even satisfy our curiosity.
When i play borderlands, it works, but when i try to select my highest lvl character, it stuffs up on me. i mean when i press “Select Character” the game shuts down. it says:

ive been trying to buy the dlc off gearbox software store and 2k games digital store and im getting errors.. on gearbox it says my info is incorrect even though im 100% sure its correct and on 2k games it tells me to try again later (ive tried like 4 times over the course of a week) and also where do you type your credit card verification code when buying the dlc from gearbox?
To be truthful, this vehicle is costly to maintain. It can be repaired and will be running in a short while … but it will break down with the same problem in a month or so. When the problem starts, it shows a dashboard indicator with a horizontal zigzag line in a rectangular box. Once that flashes then the car begins losing power, the car begins to have acceleration problems, you can floor the gas pedal but move at a snail’s pace! I thought it was the Automatic gearbox that has failed, but isn’t because the reverse gear has NO problems. In worst cases the car switches off, sometimes at traffic lights. If it starts having problems and I park the car and wait for five minutes, it will drive well for 5 or so miles after restarting. Some mechanics claim,s it’s the EGR valve, others say it’s a software problem that’s why I want it to be scrapped rather transferring problems by repairing it and selling it to someone.
The car has a lot of new components as I kept replacing things before realizing that the car was a vampire sucking me dry, among these are; new radiator, Panasonic MP3 player with RDS and aux, new engine mount, 4 new R-16 Tyres etc, I have kept receipts. Most of these were bought between August and October 2008. The engine is good as well.
I CANNOT recover the money I have dumped, I just wish to get a consolation price, since they can sell the good parts. Some garage offered £10, I refused cos I would rather have it crashed that get that.
Let me know if there is a garage that offers more than the measly £10.

Every time I go on that site, it keeps asking me for my preferred system. I have submitted that numerous times and it keeps asking me for it. I got an email from Gearbox Software saying that I have until May the 15th to submit that info. Anyone know how to fix this?

I’m looking for any films & documentaries that explore the story of aliens visiting earth in the distant past, and influencing human evolution & culture.
I’m only really interested in those films/documentaries that have a grain of possible truth.
For example: Stargate, where the ancient pyramids were built under instruction of the evil alien, and the ancient Egyptians were servants to the alien ‘god’.
Or Mission To Mars, where they find that statue of a ‘humanoid’ on the surface of Mars, and the astronaut ends up going off in the alien spaceship.

I can not remember the title of this movie but I know it deals with aliens. It has these balls/orbs things and when a human eats it they change into aliens temporarily. Each ball/orb has different types of aliens you can change into. I think it was more of a comedy movie rather than a scary or serious movie.
There is one scene I do remember though. Close to the end of the movie, the main characters are fighting the bad guys and a woman eats one of the orbs and swallows a bad guy. That is the only scene I can remember.
