A New Kreation! Meet Krater, a Post-Apocalyptic Kraft and Kombat Game

Borderlands art style and Minecraft’s Kreating abilities kombine in new top-down RPG-Krater

An apocalyptic interstellar war, known as the Untergang, ravaged all worlds of man. The majority of earth’s population was decimated by kinetic impacts, a storm of nuclear detonations, bio-weapon plagues and all consuming nano-swarms.  Civilization collapsed and humanity on earth was brought to the brink of extinction. But somehow humankind managed to survive.

It combines the combat mechanics of action-rpgs with the top-down tactics of the classic old-school games such as Syndicate and X-Com. The rich world opens up for the players via exploration of the immense world map.

[pullquote_right]The game world is full of competing interests, catering for many options and challenges for energetic players.[/pullquote_right]Centuries went by and earth was scarred from those fateful days. The ancestors of the survivors formed a variety of primitive societies, continuously warring for the scant resources available. They formed three major fractions and a new form of government to help sustain a civilized life.

Shadows over Soliside

The main story told in Krater begins in Shadows over Solside, the first of three episodes set in the Krater world.

Shadows over Solside starts of in the Solside nation fraction. It allows you to explore its many towns and settlements or wander of to explore the wilderness. You’ll set up a team and get them proper equipment, and go on paid assignments. There are over 200 side quests, so you will be playing this game to the end of time.

You control three human characters at the same time. There are four class specializations (Bruiser, Medikus, Regulator and Knife-Looney).

[pullquote_left]Who knows, if you play your card right and team up with the right people you might be able to get on the Gravy train heading for the hidden wealth of the center hole.[/pullquote_left]You’ll go into combat with a variety of  wasteland beasts and Underside monsters; leveling up your team, and crafting everything in sight are among the vast things you can do in Krater.

Two major DLCs as well as a number of smaller rule updates are confirmed to follow after the release of Krater. These DLC are knitted together in a chain that will open up the game world, adding new mechanics and features to the core gameplay. The expansion of the game looks incredibly promising.

No specific date as been announced, but be looking for Krater in Q2-Q3 2012.
