So I want to share something that I felt was awesome. This last weekend, I was out with friends getting some dinner (which was tasty, but not the point of this piece). Next to the restaurant was an arcade. I hadn’t been in an arcade in ages. Probably since I was 14 and definitely not since online gaming became a standard thing. So we went and checked it out, because why the hell not?
I’ve always thought, when I bothered to think about it, that the Arcade Society differences between Asia and America were rather odd. Why should they be so popular there, and not here? There are definitely cultural differences in the approach to console ownership. In America, ownin your home console is sort of the standard, and from my understanding this isn’t the case in most of Asia (definitely not where I’ve been).

I can't remember the last time I saw an Arcade in America that wasn't populated primarily by children.
However, there is just something you get from an Arcade that you can’t get while sitting at home and playing against “XXSefirothX23” in a profanity filled match of Call of Duty.
Now, this Arcade that I was in specifically was primarily what I would call carnival games. Skeeball and the like. You can bet your ass I don’t play Skeeball, so after some thorough searching, and a few rounds of Time Crisis 3, I found what I had been looking for.
A Street Fightr Alpha 2 console. All alone, not even in a designated “Fighting Game Section” there it was, and I jumped on that. Playing a few rounds against my friends. Everything was good. I own Street Fighter 2, and Street Fighter 4, on console and have a fight stick or two, so that gave me the advantage over my comrades, but then this happened:
I panicked. An asian guy had just come up, said nothing, and slammed a quarter down on the console. Mind you these machines don’t even take quarters anymore, they take debit cards. This was a purely ritualistic way of saying: “It’s on”.
I was already locked in from the previous round as Chun Li. You’ve got to understand that the “strongest woman in the world” and I have a rich history. She was my fighter of choice in Street Fighter 2, Third Strike, and Street Fighter 4. You’ve also got to understand that while I’m familiar with things like Cross Ups, Tech Throws, and mixing up my high-low game, I’m woefully ignorant of specific match ups, frame advantages, and complex combos. Basically, this was pretty intimidating.
Up until now, this story could have involved me physically sitting on my couch playing over the PSN or something. My opponent and I hadn’t said anything to one another, and we were about to start round 1. Despite the fact that the feelings were totally different, one could still say: “Well, you don’t need to go to an arcade to get that feeling”.
Then something happened though. In a match that went 3 rounds, I won. This stranger next to me let out and aggravated sigh, but then turned to me, looked me in the eye, and said “Good game, man.” and shook my hand. This was a competition between gentlemen and I had come out as the victor.
After 7 more opponents, I retired to give someone else a go. I wasn’t strictly following the Arcade Code where”you win, you fight next round”. Depriving someone of the chance to beat you isn’t fair to them, after all. However, there were young children waiting in line, and I felt their need to experience a good round of Street Fighter was greater than my own. Plus, there weren’t any new challengers.
Those 15-20 minutes made my night. Competing against real people, in the same room, was great. It was head and shoulders above getting yelled at by some kid over the Internet. Everyone was civil and respectful, but you could see it in their face that they wanted to win. In this guy’s opinion, we should see more arcades. Anything competitive can really benefit by having your opponent right there next to you. So if you’re too young to have really experienced a good Arcade throw down, I implore you, go find an Arcade near you, and start challenging random strangers. You might even walk away with a few new friends.

Let me tell you my story. I was a very enthusiastic Xbox fan (although I did get 2 rrod’s). I always thought the Ps3 had no good games and wasn’t worth it. I always thought Halo 3 and Gears 2 were the best 2 games every created. BOY, WAS I WRONG!
After getting my Ps3 as a birthday present from my best friend’s mom, I was outstanded! I realized how easy and smoothly the Ps3 works: the menu, the internet, the setting up. This made me realize how buggy, glitchy, and clunky the interface and hardware of the 360 was. And the internet was free! I could web browse, buy demos, games, and movies. There’s even a Life with Playstation that lets you see world news on a big globe and send processing power to Stanford University at the same time to help study cancer. The store didn’t have as many things as the Live Arcade, but it had 50x more quality ones.
So I went and bought a few games: Warhawk, Resistance 2, Littlebigplanet, MGS4, and Super Stardust HD. I also rented Uncharted.
The first 10 minutes of Warhawk were funner than all of Halo 3. Resistance 2 was also fun, not nearly as fun as warhawk, but 100x better than Halo and Gears. Littlebigplanet overwhemed me! I loved it so much. And Super Stardust Hd felt like the best $6 I’ve ever spent!
Then came Uncharted. I managed to finish it right before I had to return it. It was the best single-player game I’ver ever played! But then came MGS4. The nostalgia and heartwarming story almost put me to tears, for I was a veteran of some of the old Metal Gears. And MGS4 topped Uncharted as my favorite game of all time.
By now I wanted to throw Halo and Gears and my 360 in the trash. I realized how many good games the Ps3 had, and how little the 360 had: Halo, Gears, Halo, Gears, Halo Wars, Gears…….(and everything else is multi-platform)
I always thought that xbox Live was better than PSN. Why did I ever think that?!??! They’re both nearly identical, except the PSN doesn’t have cursing 12-year olds and constant talking and screaming. And there are no hackers, assholes, campers, N00bs, laggers, or anything on the PSN. And the PSN is free and has Home (which is still in BETA form)
Later, I went on the store and got like 20 demos. I liked Pixeljunk Eden a lot, but my cousin said get Flower. I thought it was some stupid girly gay thing. But I gave in, and I NEVER regret buying it!
Soon, I learned online to make profiles for other countries to get access to their content. I made one for Europe, Asia, Japan, and U.S. Then I got a Killzone 2 demo from the EU store and that demo was better than Halo 3′s entire campaign.
And then there’s the mind-blowing graphics, motion sensor, Linux, etc.
I used to be like you guys. But boy, I was in for a suprise.
So all you 360 owners out there. Here’s my question: do you guys really think the 360 is really the most hardcore, funnest, best online, best games system? Think again! (no the answer is not the gay Wii)
I have a best friend and i really like him a lot more than just a friend. We met last september at college and we became friends. He learnt very early on that i liked him and he said he was unsure how he felt about me but he had a girlfriend anyway. He then broke up with his girlfriend in December but then got with another girl after saying he’d get with me, he apologised and i forgave him and we remained friends. He broke up with this girl within the month and I was there with him throughout. He eventually asked me out in February and I was ecstatic and I’d already made out with him when he had his first girlfriend and given him a handjob between his first and second. Our relationship only lasted a month and a half as he just wasn’t treating me like a girlfriend and said he only saw me as a friend. Since then we’ve fallen out badly, been just friends, friends with benefits and finally best friends. But I’m so close to him i get on with his family great, he gets along with mine, he buys me stuff all the time like bracelets, mcdonalds, pays for the arcade, teddy bears etc.. we talk on the phone all the time and he said i was a true friend. We’re going shopping on Thursday and he said he wants to buy me a meal he is just so sweet. He is still completely aware of my feelings for him and knows I’d love to go out with him so this puts me in a dilemma about how he feels about me. Like my sister puts it I’m his girlfriend jut without the official title. He’s acting as if he likes me, but if he knows I want to go out with him perhaps he doesn’t like me in that way after all.
Should I ask if he would want to take our relationship further or just enjoy how close we are?
I PERSONALLY KNOW WHICH GAME IS BETTER I JUST WANT TO HEAR WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY!!!Saints row 2 kicked gta4s a.s.s hard core. Heres why One thing that has always bugged me about Grand Theft Auto is that if you fail a mission or are killed/busted, you have to do the entire thing again, including the boring drive to wherever the meat of the mission is. Saints Row 2 makes this a thing of the past with in-mission checkpoints that help remove some aspects of a stage that would bore you to death upon repeated attempts.
That’s not to say that the checkpoints are always well-implemented or sensible, but at least you don’t have to drive from the mission’s activation all the way to where the action is every time you die.
2. Cars are actually fun to drive:
Why on Earth Rockstar decided to strive for “realism” is something I’ll never fathom. This desire that developers have to be “realistic” all the time is helping to kill the fun factor of a lot of games nowadays, and one of the worst examples was Rockstar’s decision to remove the arcade feel of their vehicles.
Saints Row 2 makes no such “innovation,” and as a result, its cars don’t handle like blobs of spunk on a rubber sheet covered in soapy water. The controls are decidedly old-fashioned, and the cars grip the road without swerving uncontrollably for players who don’t want to act like they’re driving a real car. Seriously, I’d learn to drive in real life if I wanted that experience.
I want cars that can go really really fast yet are still able to turn corners with very little penalty. I want to be able to crash without flying out of the windscreen every time — something which got old, boring and time consuming after the first few times it happened in GTA IV. I want something that is not realistic. I got what I wanted from the cars in Saints Row 2.
3. Weapons are far more varied and awesome:
As part of its strive for realism, GTA IV cut out several elements that had made the previous games so much fun. Chief among these cuts were the numerous and outragous weapons that had graced the the GTAs of old. No more chainsaws. No more flamethrowers. Just very grounded, very real, very tiresome guns.
Enter Saints Row 2, a game that embraces the chainsaw and is more than happy to give flamethrowers the love that Rockstar denied them. Not only that, it throws in a few more fantastic firearms into the mix as well. Fancy a pimp cane that doubles as a gun? How about a foam hand that performs insta-kill bitchslaps and sends enemies flying into the air? All this and more can be found in Stilwater, not so much in Liberty City.
SR2′s arsenal is varied, fun and in several instances, hilarious. Exactly what a gamer should want from his weaponry.
4. You can be a cockney bastard:
We’re going to look at Saints Row’s customization in a few moments, but one custom option deserves its own section — the terrible, Dick Van Dyke-quality English voiceover that you can choose to give your character. It’s so deliciously bad that it becomes awesome, and I can’t think of Saints Row 2 now without inwardly grinning at its inclusion. Niko Bellic is a great main character and everything, but he’s no cockney bastard.
5. Real customization:
Yes, GTA IV lets you pick out some clothes for Niko to wear, but that doesn’t even come close to the level of personalization that is available in Saints Row 2. With the option to shape your character however you wish, you’ll be able to pick an aforementioned voice, the way you walk, how you compliment or taunt other people and what color your hair is. With enough tweaking (almost too much tweaking) you can create anything you like.
Then there are the hundreds and hundreds of clothing options available to you, embarrassing Niko’s rather drab selection of suits and brown shirts. You can choose to make your character look stylish or stupid, with anything from sharp suits to hot dog costumes. You can even opt to go nude, with an amusing pixelation effect to keep things “tasteful.”
We’re not done there, either. You can choose to pimp out your car, you can select what your bodyguards look like and you can change the way your home looks. While GTA IV feels like Rockstar’s game, Saints Row 2 feels like your game. It’s an important distinction and, in this case, works in SR2′s favor. and thats just the begining. Rock star what happened to you…. you yoused to be cool!!??

I have this guy friend, we’ve known for 3years from now as we were classmates. and now that we graduated, he confessed during his birthday that he had a crush with me when we were 2nd year college. I think that’s where we had a ROLE PLAY together(or partners) in one of our subjects.
I was actually love at 1st sight with him when we became classmates for the 1st time when we were in 2nd year college! plus, I learned that we belong to the same religion (which is good – no conflict for us..)
But when we were classmates/friends, I wasn’t able to confess my love to him before as I was really not that pretty. I was AFRAID. He might say that he doesn’t love me back.. And so, as time goes by, I am still waiting for him at the right time even though he had a ex-girlfriend(which lasted 2months only) I think they broke up at the day of my birthday. I don’t know if it’s just a coincidence or not! At dat time, I was happy. but then, they stayed best friends after they broke up and i think the girl still loved him, but i think the guy don’t feel the same way.. that’s wat i think..Hmm..
fast forward… After we graduated from college, the guy and I became close! that’s wat happened when we always together applying for a job in different companies. After applying, we hung out to the park or malls or to the arcade just to have fun! and same thing happened as time is passing
Imagine that..after 3years, My crush (or my ideal guy or love?haha) and I became really close now.. we called ourselves BGF (‘Best Guy Friend’ is wat I call to him, and ‘Best Girl Friend’ is wat he calls to me).. But then, when we’re having conversations, we never talk about LOVE or our feelings for each other.. it’s all about our friends, family, work, jokes.. no LOVE topic… but we’re enjoying each other’s company..we go to fun places..
I really think he’s the guy I am waiting for.. I waited for 3yrs where we really became closer to each other.. We are on the same religion, we sometimes wear the same COLOR shirt coincidentally, our family are friends with his, my friends also thought that he’s really the one for me, we have similarities.. I thought he’s my soulmate.. For now, I think our relationship is like we’re MORE THAN FRIENDS, BUT LESS THAN LOVERS..
Then I asked him thru FB chat. I asked him if he likes me. then he said that I should not choose him because I will meet other guys in the future.. But I said that we’ll keep our friendship always and he’s really okay with that.. And that’s it.. What is the MEANING OF THAT?
I HAVE CHANGED because of him.. I have leadership skills where I joined different organizations with different positions in our university when we were still studying.. I studied hard. I am recognized in our university because of the leadership i had
.. I also became prettier, which really changed a lot to me. It’s actually a positive impact for me. I have changed for the better, and for the recognition
How will I know his true feelings? Does he still love his ex-girlfriend?? What is the meaning of what he said? He also said that he had a crush with me before, but he never told me that before.. And now, we’re really really close.. I just can’t accept the fact that…should I stop loving him now?
PS: I’m 19years old now and he is 21years old. We’re fresh graduates

@TheRedParrot- thanks for ur answer.. If i ask him “how much do u like me?”, he might say “wat kind of question is that?”.. I mean, we’re not used to the LOVE topic. u know, a little shyness/awkwardness is still there!
And, why would i give him flowers? that’s the guy’s job, right? not girl’s?…

6. Lots more to do:
Grand Theft Auto IV had some really good missions and a great story, but beyond that there was never really anything compelling. The dating and friendship minigame was interesting, but it eventually got boring having to deal with Roman calling you every half hour to invite you to go bowling. Other distractions, such as darts or TV, did very little to keep one coming back for more.
Once again, Saints Row 2 trumps GTA IV, with a wide variety of minigames and distractions on offer, some of them pretty damn robust in their own right. You can play in-game videogames, for example, including an awesome zombie-killing game. You can buy various businesses to earn extra inc

We’re fresh graduates
this is REALLY LONG..pls be patient..
