Magicka Celebrates One Year Anniversary, More Than One Million Copies Sold

Paradox Interactive and Arrowhead Game Studios has announced that their Norse-mythology-based fantasy title Magicka has reached its one year mark as of last Friday. With over 1.3 million copies sold, the indie game has spellbound Steam users with expansions such as Magicka: Vietnam, which has gone on to sell more than 500,000 copies, and various DLC releases which have been downloaded over 4 million times.

To commemorate the milestone, the developers have created a new Magick called the “Confuse spell”, which is free to all players. Minimal details of this new spell have been made available, but based on the screenshots provided by Paradox, the effects appear to create a diversion with enemies rendered in a state of perplexed enchantment, as yellow question marks float curiously above their heads.

Fans can also anticipate a new expansion, The Other Side of the Coin, which is due to come out later this spring. As the name of the installment indicates, wizards will take on an antagonistic role this time as commanders of Alucart the Vampire and his legion of Necromancers. In true villain fashion, their robes and hats will be replaced by imposing, 70’s style collared black capes. For more information about the newest addition to the Magicka universe, read more here:
