Capcom‘s blog has a recent post that reveals intentions to celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of it’s most popular franchises. Street Fighter has captured the imaginations and wore out the fingers of fans all around the world. For a quarter of a century Street Fighter has given us multiple titles with fireballs, uppercuts and a plethora of different martial arts styles to punish our opponents with. Revolutionizing the fighting genre, these titles changed everything for fighting games and have created a very dedicated fan base of players. Capcom has recognized this, and is preparing for big plans to celebrate this with their fans.
This post doesn’t reveal any specific plans as of yet, but it does mention that August 30th is the series official anniversary. So along with Street Fighter X Tekken, fans of this franchise may have quite a bit to look forward in 2012. Purely speculating at this point, but we may see another Xbox Live/PSN arcade title like Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike or Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. Some people are guessing that we may see a Street Fighter V announcement. Regardless, Capcom normally does a fantastic job of listening to their fans, so we’ll be eager to find out what they have in store for us as we get closer to August 30th.
