Atari Turns Your iPad into an Arcade

Atari, you know, THE Atari, just released an attachment for your iPad that features a ‘retro design,’ a joystick and four buttons. It strives to bring “a mobile arcade-like experience to the Atari’s Greatest Hits app.”

The press release makes it sound like the Atari Arcade can only be used with the Atari Greatest Hits app but that could change down the line. The app features around 100 Atari classics to play with this fancy new accessory. The Atari Arcade is hard-wired to the iPad, unlike other devices, and therefore provides completely lag free gaming. That also means that it is powered by the iPad and does not require batteries. This whole announcement is a dig at Think Geek’s iCADE that was released earlier this year in case you were curious.

The Atari Arcade is available at Target right now for $59.99 and will soon be available at Apple Stores and other retailers on November 1st.
