Port Royale 3 is based on the 17th century history of the Caribbean Islands, but it’s probably nothing like you would imagine a game in this setting would be. You start as a young ship captain and have to decide whether you want to earn your fortune by staying within the bounds of the law and trading, or becoming a pirate.

As a pirate, you’ll gain notoriety through raids, bounty hunting, plundering and conquering cities. As a trader, you set up trade routes, build production facilities and develop cities. You can also combine strategies from both to become an iron-fisted magnate.

There’s also a series of multiplayer modes where you can go head-to-head against other players using commercial, economic, and conquest simulations that allow for fast-paced gameplay.
