11-Minute Gameplay Trailer for Dead Island

The new gameplay trailer for Dead Island features Deepsilver Manager Vincent Kummer walking gamers through survival on the island of Banoi.

Check out the video:

The video is chock-full of blood, zombies in bikinis and other survivors. There are various types of zombies that require players to think strategically about which weapons to use or which zombie to kill first when being attacked.  A work bench is shown so the player can repair their weapon. Players will also have limited options when it comes to guns on the island since there are not very many available on the island itself.

There are some definite stand out elements in the gameplay trailer: character Xian Mei’s voice will start off a bit scared and timid in the game, but with time her confidence grows and it reflects in her voice. The game will include a storm coming to the island, creating more destruction and serving up a more dreary, darker atmosphere. Players will also move away from the resort area of the island and explore the main town on the island where the locals are.

Otherwise, obvious comparisons can be made to other games such as Dead Rising and hearing about the 4-person co-op play one can’t help but think of Left 4 Dead. This particular trailer, even despite the voice over, doesn’t bring the emotional depth of the previous ad trailers. But perhaps it’s still a bit too early to tell what emotional and dramatic elements Dead Island may have in store.

Also, I’m sorry but I couldn’t help it. I had to screen-cap this part of the trailer because I was in awe:

Bam.
